Mind over matter. Mind. Over. Matter. I believe this with every ounce of my being. It’s not that you can change situations just with your brain (although, that would be awesome), but you can absolutely change how you see or perceive a situation… and the good things will follow.
I probably (definitely…) sound like a broken record, but Zen and the Art of Happiness is a life-changing book. It really changes the way you react to circumstances. My mom, sister, and I are all obsessed with it and our outlooks on just about everything have changed for the better.
Well, we (Emily, Amy, Mackenzie, and I) have taken it one step further and all adopted the mantra of “positive vibes.” Complete with hand motions– both hands in peace signs and just wave your hands around and lightly punch at the air. (Really though, it’s like a total summer camp handshake circa 1999.)
Positive vibing is super easy, but it’s a total game changer. All you have to do is decide to think positively. And apply it to absolutely everything. I don’t know if it’s the Universe or a bit of magic, but it works!!! ++ Positive Vibes ++
Because we all subscribe to this new amazing philosophy, we can remind each other to vibe. Stressed about not hearing from a date the next day? Positive vibes. Pouring rain and no cabs with the light on in sight? Positive vibes. Overwhelmed with work? Positive vibes. Basically anytime you start getting that feeling of doom in the pit of your stomach, force yourself to positive vibe. The hand motion doesn’t hurt.
Give it a try this week. Tell a friend or two and have them remind you if you forget (and you can remind them). I think you’ll see that a) your attitude is better b) your outlook is brighter and c) the results are awesome.
Vibe on.
xoxo
Thank you for this.
This post could not have come at a better time. I've been dealing with a LOT of big life decisions lately, all of which need to happen within the next few months, and I really needed to read something like this. Thank you!
Thank you for posting this, I really needed to read this .

This post is just proof of the actual concept of positivity and attracting good things. My mom, sister, and I recently read The Secret which deals with the law of attraction and focuses on feeling happiness and joy to manifest the things you want, and we're all obsessed with this philosophy. For the past two weeks, I've really focused on being positive and immediately correcting myself anytime I've had a negative thought or feeling come over me, and the results have been amazing. I've attracted so many positive things – this blog post was just another sign from the Universe. Thanks, Carly!! xoxo
Such a great idea Carly! I've been working on adopting this mindset for the past six months almost and it's made a world of difference!

Love this! Have you read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle? I think you might enjoy it. It definitely makes you think about how much our thoughts shape our lives.

I've had that book on my list of things to read so hopefully I'll get to it soon!!
I really love this outlook, I've been trying it out for myself lately as much as I can. While I haven't perfected it, the little bit that I've used it has helped for sure! I'll have to check this book out though sounds like a good read 🙂
