I got my ears pierced in November while I was in Florida for Thanksgiving! It was my second piercing and, honestly, felt like a big deal to me. I had my ears pierced originally when I was a toddler so I only have a very, very vague memory of getting them pierced. (If you’re curious, my biggest memory from that day is that I think I got like a shiny dinosaur that had a scaly texture and was filled with like beads?!) This was the first time the decision was mine to get a piercing!
I have read that getting a second piercing is having a big moment for moms as a sort of midlife crisis. I didn’t know this when I decided to get mine pierced, but honestly if the shoe fits…. 🤣
My sister has had her second piercings for a while and I love how they looked on her. I knew I wanted to get them pierced while we were together and we tried a couple of times. Apparently though it’s not recommended to do while you’re pregnant or breastfeeding so we kept having to wait. Finally, we were together, I had weaned Jack, and we were going to get it done. On the way to the piercing place, I was still 50/50 on whether or not I felt like I was going to actually go through with it. The woman who did my piercings was so nice and made sure I was 100% sure before doing it! And then… we did it! People asked me if it hurt and the actual piercing part hurt more than I expected (and the worst part was knowing what the second ear would feel like after the first!), but the pain went away almost instantly. It didn’t bother me pretty much at all afterwards, even while sleeping.
I will say, I haven’t regretted it for a second. I LOVE the two earrings. Every time I see them in the mirror or in a photo, I love it even more. I’m glad I did it!
I still have the long post studs I initially got– they recommended I keep them in for five to six months to give the piercings enough time to heal. I’m coming up on the window on being able to switch things up and it has me extra excited.
Right now I’ve mostly been wearing a pair of pave huggies my in-laws got me for Christmas and the studs I purchased when I got my ears pierced. Here are some more combos I’m loving:
