HOW TO DECORATE A COFFEE TABLE

I’ve been feeling very inspired after our recent interior design projects. I love our grand millennial living room so much and couldn’t resist rounding up some adorable pieces of decor and tips for how to decorate a coffee table.

How to Decorate a Coffee Table

Layering adds depth and dimension to your coffee table. Mix different textures and heights to keep things interesting. I love the look of an assortment of stacked coffee table books (I recently did a roundup on the best coffee table books) for a classic choice, but don’t hesitate to mix it up with a woven tray, decorative bowl, or a hand-painted vase. Flowers breathe life into any setting. A small potted plant or a vase of fresh blooms can bring a refreshing burst of color into your space. Consider adding cozy touches like candles and a match cloche to create a warm and inviting space.

Add a personal touch with a piece that resonates with you. I have a tiny collection of Susan Gordon pottery– it’s possibly my favorite grandmillennial decor I own! I love her little dishes and have to stop myself from ordering something from every drop because I love them all so much. I have one of her hydrangea bowls on my living room coffee table and it looks stunning displayed on a stack of coffee table books. I’m also swooning over this blue poppy bowl and someone needs to order it before I do, ha!

As you arrange your coffee table don’t lose sight of the primary function. Ensure that you can still comfortably use it for its intended purpose – as a place to set down drinks, snacks, or a good book. Finally, remember, there are no strict rules in coffee table styling – it’s all about what speaks to you and complements your home’s overall design. Have fun learning how to decorate a coffee table as a true reflection of your personal taste!

Any tips for styling a coffee table with a toddler? I love the stuff you shared, but with an 18 month old it would all be broken or on the floor in a heartbeat! What have you been doing with Jack?

Hmm! Maybe we just got lucky! Sometimes he shows interest in the stuff on the table, but usually he isn’t interested at all. We do have baskets of his toys underneath (and almost always have trains out on the table lol) so maybe he’s just distracted by stuff he does like!

Carly thank you for sharing! I so enjoy reading your daily posts. This is random but if I recall correctly you shared a link last year to an Etsy shop with really beautiful/well-crafted kids Halloween costumes. Do you still have that link or the name of the shop? Thank you so much 😊
