DOUBLE DENIM OUTFITS

I’ve been seeing double denim outfits everywhere lately. While not typically a fan of the “Canadian tuxedo,” I have to admit that I’ve loved some takes on the trend, even if they haven’t been 100% my style. Naturally, I had to try my hand at putting together some looks! I tried to challenge myself not to use white jeans, denim shorts, or denim jackets… which was actually easier than I expected.

P.S. These are all the best maternity jeans and these are all the best jeans for fall (or any other time).

Ruffled Peter Pan Collar Button Down // Woven Flower Studs ($12.50!) // Buckle Mary-Jane Flats (21% off!) // Cuffed Straight Leg Jeans ($47!)

Given the time of year, I wanted to pick blue jeans with a light wash. (This pair actually looks like the perfect mom jean to me!) While I haven’t tried cuffed denim yet, I think it’s one of the current jeans trends that feels very accessible. Knowing how big butter yellow is right now, I couldn’t help but include ballet flats in the same color. And how darling is the ruffled Peter Pan collar on the top? You may not be able to tell from afar, but it’s white denim.

Flower Studs ($54!) // Ankle Strap Sandals // Bell Sleeves Dress // Top Handle Box Bag ($68!)

There are SO MANY denim dresses on the market right now, but I picked this one for its dark wash (it felt more elevated) and easy, summery silhouette. Picking sandals in the same blue hue seemed like a chic way to style multiple denim pieces in one look. The red handbag adds a much-needed pop of color– I’d remove the chain, personally, and just use the top handle!

Scalloped Bow Headband ($49!) // Open Weave Mary-Jane Flats // Pleated Chino Shorts ($39.50!) // Shirred Blouse ($21!)

This double denim outfit feels the most “College Prepster”… ha! The scalloped bow headband and more tailored J.Crew chinos are to credit for that. I can’t tell if the blue denim 100% matches, but I think it’s pretty darn close. With the red, white, and blue color palette, it’d fit right in at a Fourth of July barbecue!

A few weeks ago, I sent a picture of myself in dark jeans and a light wash jacket to several friends and asked “am I giving Britney/Justin or Reese in Sweet Home Alabama vibes?” As an elder millennial, the double denim is definitely a trend I am scared by.
