OUR FAVORITE TOYS FOR 18 MONTH OLDS

I just love playing with Jack. We have the best time together and it’s such a joy. The older he gets, the more I’ve been able to observe the way he looks at toys differently and discovers new ways of playing with them. It’s also so much fun being able to introduce ones that are a little more complex! As we inch closer and closer to his second birthday (his birth feels like it was both yesterday and forever ago), I wanted to share our favorite toys for 18 month olds while they’re still fresh in my mind.

Our Favorite Toys for 18 Month Olds

HELMET // LOVEVERY SUBSCRIPTION // BASKETBALL HOOP // FOOD SET

GOGGLES // CHALK // DOLL // BABY SHARK PUZZLE // BUSY BOARD

SCOOTER // PLAY LAPTOP // MINI  PLAY-DOH // BALANCE BIKE // GOLF CLUB SET

First I have to sing the praises of his favorite toy recently, this scooter. He’s been riding it around the neighborhood and in the park. He’s just obsessed. This is his helmet, by the way! Depending on where your toddler is at with movement, this walker/balance bike might be more their speed. It’s great for helping develop the motor skills to walk and ride. Mike loves to golf, so giving Jack his own set of clubs with a “golf bag” was extra fun! He loves to hit the balls. Speaking of balls – right now he prefers a real basketball sans hoop, but this classic set has gotten a lot of use at our house. If your kid is taking swim lessons, I couldn’t recommend these goggles more. The fabric strap is way more comfortable than regular ones!

I couldn’t put together a list of our favorite 18 month old toys without including the Lovevery subscription boxes. He still plays with SO many of the Montessori toys from past shipments! Chalk and mini Play-Dohs offer tons of open ended play opportunities and are great to pull out when we have his cousins over. It’s also cool to Jack mimic the things we do with the Melissa and Doug food sets (I prefer these over plastic ones but they’re not expensive), baby doll, and play laptop. Because we’re in a huge Baby Shark phase right now, this Baby Shark puzzle has been a surprising favorite. (I didn’t even realize it was official Baby Shark as it was a cousin hand-me-down and then Jack started carrying the shark pieces around singing the song!)  Finally, to be fair this is a newer addition to our playroom but a friend recently passed on this busy board and he LOVES it.

Hahaha we have so many of these toys at our place and they are amazing. And age so well. Many are still serving our 3 and 6 year olds! Great recommendations – seconding!
