1 Girl, 5 Outfits: Caroline Breland

Caroline was nominated by her sister for the next installment of “1 Girl, 5 Outfits.” She included a quick bio and a photo of Caroline and let me just say, I wanted to copy her outfit and find a tree with red berries! Since she’s in Alabama, Caroline had her photographer brother snap the photos and I’m pretty excited to share the full post today. She’s sharing five outfits right now for all kinds of occasions from grabbing coffee (her favorite thing to do) to an office-ready look.

Hello from Alabama! My name is Caroline Breland, and I’m 22 years-old. I graduated from high school in my southern town and now work in the front office there! When I’m not busy with work, I love to drink coffee with my friends & family! Now that I’m working I love putting together outfits for work, every day. I started my blog, Coffee With Caroline, to share my style inspiration and coffee dates. This may sound like a pretty typical life, but I’m an everyday miracle! I was born with Down syndrome and doctors told my parents I may not even be able to talk or read! Well now I have plans to write my own book to share my story with others (and to star in a Hallmark Channel movie, a girl can dream right?!).

Similar Warby Parker Glasses // Similar Skirt // Turtleneck // Boots // Sweater

My style is allll about being comfortable but cute! I’m very petite (compared to my 6 ft tall brothers! LOL) so I love wearing skirts and heels to make me look taller. My favorite places to shop are J. Crew, Michael Kors, & the local boutiques in my hometown! For the holidays, I get my style inspiration from Christmas movies!

This is one of my favorite outfits! I love how Christmas-y the plaid makes this simple outfit! I was really inspired by my mom’s 80s fashion and tied the sweater around my shoulders! (My southern friends know it’s still too hot to wear sweaters!) I throw this outfit on to go shopping with my sisters all the time because the boots are so comfy! My favorite part of the outfit may be the pockets in the skirt; it’s so easy to just throw my phone in my pocket and run! No need for a purse when my sisters are buying the coffee.

Sweater // Pajamas (SUCH A DEAL!) // Similar Socks

Obviously this outfit is something I wear on repeat all week! My favorite part of this look is this cozy sweater robe I found at Target! It’s soooo cozy I have to make myself wear anything else! This is the perfect outfit for cuddling up with my puppy, Ralph, and watching Christmas movies! The classic striped pajamas remind me of something an American Girl would wear which makes me love it even more!

Skirt // Similar Sweater // Peter Pan Collar // Boots

This J Crew Factory Skirt is so amazing I own it in several colors! Even though it doesn’t get cold down here in Alabama, boots are necessary because it’s soo rainy! I found these rainboots in the kid’s section and I cannot get over how cute they are! (#PerksOfBeingPetite). This peter pan collar is a trick I stole from my sister Anna! By layering this fake collar under a sweater, you get the look but it’s still comfy! I wear this look to the office almost every day whether it’s bringing coffee to my teacher friends or helping with Homecoming, this is my go-to look!

Similar Sweater // Similar Jeans // Similar Necklace // Boots

If you couldn’t tell from my blog name, coffee is my favorite thing so I have lots of “coffee outfits!” Every afternoon around 3, our family group texts stars buzzing with one word, “Coffee?” About this time, I get home from work throw on a comfier outfit and head to grab coffee with my family! Just a sweater and jeans with my favorite Toms heels (my sister got me hooked on this brand!) can look so fancy with a statement necklace! I took these pictures in front of the cutest local coffee shop, Carpe Diem!

Turtleneck // Shoes // Similar Dress and Similar Dress

It seems like this time of year there are SOOO many Christmas parties! From work, friends, church, and family, I can never have enough dresses! This velvet dress is actually really old but to refresh it I layered a black turtleneck underneath it (a tip I saw from Carly in Teen Vogue years ago!) If by now you can’t tell how much I love being comfortable, let me tell you about these shoes! You can’t tell in this picture but they are velvet too and make me think of White Christmas! I love to dance and can’t wait to take these shoes dancing!

I love this!! Such cute outfits! I can definitely relate to the weather issue, it was 80 degrees in Texas today, way too hot for sweaters…

Oh sweet Caroline! How this post made me smile! You are truly a gift from Jesus and I’m so happy that Carly featured you today! I LOVE your outfits and can live in plaid and watch Hallmark Christmas movies all day if I could. And coffee! Yes, please! Although these days I’m only drinking decaf, but with all my Christmas flavors of course. I want you to know that I have a brother who was born with Down’s Syndrome too and the doctors told my mom the same thing. Not only is he healthy and the life of all our parties, he is truly the greatest gift to our family. God bless you Caroline and Carly! This beautiful post was a great start to my day! XO

Love your outfits, Caroline. Especially the black dress. I checked out your blog and there’s a picture of you wearing a red jacket I covet. Where did you get it?

These are great outfits! I love the idea of the Peter Pan collar — I really dislike wearing a buttondown under a sweater (too wrinkly/bulky) but I love the look of the collar peeking out — it just adds an extra oomph and I think can make a bland sweater so much cuter and a plain crewneck more flattering to the face. I’m going to order one now!
