Whether or not you’re headed back to school this August/September, now is a great time to get organized. How many of us had resolutions at the beginning of 2013 to be more organized and to stay on top of everything we needed to do!? Well… now that the summer is going to eventually start winding down, let’s get organized.
I love that there are options for planners that are academic. Again, they work for anyone whether or not you’re in school. A planner that starts in August? Perfect, in my opinion, for when you need a mid-year pick-me-up for organization. Right?
Here are the three options that I recommend:
I’m currently using the Russell + Hazel Smartdate system and I’ve used both Sarah Pinto and Lilly Pulitzer planners in the past. While I have been using my Google Calendar to keep track of all of my meetings and appointments, I still like to write down to-dos and due dates!
What planner do you use?

a little bit of life, a little bit of style, and everything in between.
I love planners! I'm using a MyAgenda by MomAgenda
planner this year 🙂

PS: I also really like using google calander. I would love if you could do a post on how you use both gcal and R&H system together!

I just have a general planner I bought at Target, but I absolutely love the Sarah Pinto planner you have pictured! I really want to look into getting a refillable planner, as well 🙂

Hi Carly!
I really like the look of the Sarah Pinto planner. I also saw a really cute one on BuyOlympia called the Annual Weekly Planner with some cute illustrations and plenty of room, so I might go that route this school year. If you get a chance, would you check out my new online magazine? It's called Living Like Audrey and it just came out today. Here's the link: https://issuu.com/livinglikeaudreymag/docs/living_like_audrey_issue_1
Hope you have a great rest of your week!

I just got that Lilly planner. It's cute.
I really love the Lilly and Sarah Pinto planners but I find most cute planners to be big and cumbersome. I like to be able to have a planner that is small enough to be thrown into a purse. I recently started using the mole skin academic planners because they are small and durable, yet the pages are organized by day so there is plenty of room to write down multiple notes, events, and reminders per day. The moleskins may not be as cute, but they come in a lot of colors and I put a vinyl monogram sticker to add some flair!:)

I've used Lilly planners for years and I've never been disappointed. I'm in high school and I get at least a college level load of homework per night so and I've found that the Lilly planner caters to the space I need to keep tract of it all!

The MyAgenda planner is amazing! It has so many pages of general resources and is bound like a book!

So pricey! Any other cheaper alternatives? 😀
i'm in love with my Whitney English planner (or Day Designer, as she so eloquently calls it!). you are so right about a mid-year organizational refresh.

I found a pink molskein-esque planner for next year for around $8 at target. Score!
Erin Condren! You personalize it with what you want and all the options are really light and cheery! It's a little expensive though, but I think totally worth it.

I have used (and loved) Lilly Pulitzer planners in the past. This year I picked up a Vera Bradley planner as I was already placing an order from the website. It's really nice but unfortunately it's a lot bigger than I expected!
I've used a Lily planner for the past three years now and I love it. The stickers at the front definitely make my busy calendars look a lot brighter and a lot less overwhelming!
I'm writing in my Lilly planner right now! It helps keep me so organized, especially once my classes begin.

I'm always trying to figure out how to balance electronic organization with my written organization. I'm someone who likes to streamline and would really rather have everything in one place but then when I move to *only* electronic, I miss the planner! It's a dilemma… Thanks for the cute ideas!

I love my Lilly planner! I used one last year for my freshman year of college and it really helped me stay focused and meet deadlines. I got the navy Tiger Lilly one a couple days ago and I'm already obsessed!
My favorite is Emily Ley's. Gorgeous, totally personalize-able, and great customer service from Emily.

Totally off topic, but I was simultaneously reading your latest post and perusing H&M's new online offerings, and came across these tortoiseshell heels (-; http://www.hm.com/us/product/12710?article=12710-A
Most planners are either too big or too small–and I don't like academic style cuz I never use the summer months so I feel like I am wasting…plus they overlap so one month in the summer doesn't ever get used in one planner or the next.
I am currently using an app on my iPod called iStudiez Lite. And then I also use a smallish notebook to track to-do's and some homework. How it all works depends on the semester. A couple semesters ago, I wasn't working, now I am, so my system has changed. But paper planners tend to get too cluttered for me…one thing runs into the next on the page and I can't always read my own handwriting. LOL!
I love planners! I was introduced to the Lilly Pulitzer planners through my sorority, and I used one last year and I have one for this year. But I really like the Sarah Pinto planners… they are so classy! And where I go to school, we are on the quarter system and most of us don't have class on Fridays, so I love how Monday – Thursday is on one side, and Friday – Sunday on the other. Plus, there is a space for a to-do list. My life revolves around lists.
Anyways, this was super helpful! Thanks!
I am completely obsessed with Emily Ley's Simplified Planner (a 1-inch binder a la carte system that you build yourself) and now she came out with a Datebook that is smaller and fits in a purse. I used my Planner for my first semester of nursing school and I'm pretty sure that I would have been lost without it.
I'm also a huge list maker. I actually put a whole section in my Planner just for lists.
Oh, and Post-Its. I should just buy stock in Post-It.

I've used a Lilly P one for the past two years, but mixing it up and using a Jonathan Adler one this year — i LOVE it!
Have you heard of an Uncalendar? I just ordered one ($20 +small shipping fee) and am really excited to use it as I start nursing school in the fall. the pages are blank (not even dated) so you can start using it whenever! Lots of little boxes and organized spaces that you can really fill in with whatever you want! They look super bland so I didn't expect to fine them on TCP 😉 but an interesting concept.
The Russell + Hazel smart date planner is amazing. Metallic binder? Yes! I used a Sarah Pinto planner way back when I started college and transitioned to an app that could keep track of my assignments, to-dos, and GPA. I just started using my new Lilly Pulitzer planner and love it! It won't be of any academic use until January, but it's just darling.
love using planners for schooL!!

I'm in love with my Lilly. I use it to keep track of blogging, working out, appointments, and soon – school work (since the new academic year is approaching!) <3
I love planners! I just upgraded from my usual Staples choice to a planner from Plum Paper on Etsy and I can't wait for it to arrive! It's entirely personalized with a monogram and my name on the front; even the inside can be personalized! I highly recommend taking a look! I came very close to buying the Sarah Pinto but was won over by the personalization in the other, thanks for the recommendations, though!
I have the navy and pink Chevron Sarah Pinto for next year, so excited!!!
Great options! When I was in college I also enjoyed using a Vera Bradley planner. Very handy!

I have a leather Kate Spade planner, but I'm having trouble trying to find a 2013-14 refill for a reasonable price =P
I'm absolutely in love with my Lilly planner! I had one last year, loved it, and not only did I preorder a planner for myself, I ordered one for my brothers girlfriend as a graduation from high school present. It helps me to stay on top of things and organized, which I love!
I started with an "agenda" in elementary school and I've been hooked on planners ever since! I used to invest in the super expensive planners, but as I've gotten more Google Savvy, the cheapy cheap ones from Target do well to. As long as I have a written record of what I'm supposed to do with my life. I'm good! Lol
Thoughts on May Design's planners?
I'm starting to homeschool my son and I think I'm going to need a planner to keep track of everything.

Does anyone know where I can find any large notebooks where the insides are like Lilly's?? I would love to find some!
I have a moleskin that I use for everything. It has the dates on one side to keep track of classes, work, and meetings. A note page on the other for little reminders, more detail, and TO DOs. Its small enough to fit in any bag, and sturdy to get tossed around. I like to keep $5 in the back folder for that day I don't have my wallet but need a coffee.
I use a Cath Kidston… just ordered mine for the new school year!
I use a lifeplanner! They're beautiful and customizable in every way imaginable.
Erin Condren makes THE BEST planners! They're definitely more expensive than your run of the mill day planner, but I think they are so worth it! I just ordered the "My Favorite Things" planner, which allows you to personalize the cover with all of your favorite things (hence the name, obvi).
I've always sticked to small Moleskine weekly planners (the red-cover one), which are small and elegant and have a lovely yellowish white paper. I've just taken a look to your links and I think those by Sarah Pinto are very very cute! I want to give them a try! 🙂
I bought the Lilly planner shown above and it is so PERFECT! I got it because I saw a post on here about them a while ago and there was a coupon code for Pea Pod Paper and Gifts, so hey why not? It is so cute and bright I love using it!
I never even knew what a Lilly planner was until I got to college. But once I used it, I could never turn back. I loved the big calender and then all the separate full calenders that came before the beginning of each month. My favorite part was that there was enough space to write all of my assignments/ due dates down without needing more room. That was always what I hated about store bought Walmart kind- not enough space. And the Lily's came with cute stickers!
I ordered that exact Lily Pulitzer one and cannot wait till it comes! Another great one I used last year is the life planner by Erin Condren. I loved it but decided to give lily one a try this year 🙂

http://lovinghimiselementary.blogspot.com/ Any Christian girls out there? Well, I have started a blog that will just be a bit encouraging and maybe answer some questions! I will post often and I would love to have any ideas to write about! Thanks!
Carly or german readers! Where can you get a beautiful agenda like the Lilly Pulitzer one in Germany? I'd really appreciate the response. Thanks xx
Could you suggest any great college notebooks or other preppy study supplies a freshman should invest in??
Ps. I coincidentally ordered my Lilly agenda the day before I read this post! =)

Does anyone have an opinion on whether the Russell + Hazel planners are worth the price?
I was using an August-December Lilly planner for this school year, but I have no clue what to do for the rest of the year. Any ideas? Thanks!
I really appreciate the kind of topics you post here. Thanks for sharing us a great information that is actually helpful. Good day!!!
