Thank you Kate Spade for sponsoring this post.
Garrett and I are trying to figure out what to do for New Year’s Eve. This is going to be the first time since we’ve started dating that we will actually be together for the holiday! I’m so appreciative for his work as a paramedic; the job is not easy and it’s even harder around the holidays.
I want to come up with a tradition we can stick with throughout the years and we’re leaning towards dinner and a movie followed by watching the ball drop on tv. (Now that I’m typing it, this is pretty much what my parents do every year too.)
NYE dresses are not my favorite things in terms of fashion. I can do without skin tight dresses, the tiny hemlines, and the overall glitz.
I think this is the perfect compromise for feeling festive for New Year’s Eve but fitting for a casual taco date and movie night.
The shoes though. I do think New Year’s Eve requires a cute pair of shoes. I saw these shoes at the Kate Spade presentation this past February and fell in love with them. I am such a sucker for a well-placed bow, which happens to be Kate Spade’s speciality.
As far as heels go, Kate Spade makes some of my very favorite pairs. They’re the ones I consistently reach for when I need something simple and when I want something a little fancy.

I'm pretty low-key on NYE also. I am SO not about the skin tight dresses. I usually wear a casual outfit with a sparkly statement necklace, but I like how you went with a glitzy shoe instead! Hope you and Garrett have a great holiday!

Lovely post! The photos are amazing!
I adore the shoes, Carly! I love them even more because you have different options in terms of height. I hate it when a pair of shoes that I like is either too flat or too high.

You look gorgeous, Carly!! I really love the fringe sweatshirt! Such a casual, yet adorable piece I want to add to my closet.

I was skeptical about that fringe sweatshirt when I saw it on the site, but it looks great on you! Might be ordering…
Love this outfit! I also wasn't sure about that sweatshirt when I saw it on J. Crew's website, but now that I've seen it on Carly I love it!

I love this outfit so much, Carly! Let's get together in the new year!
Considering I'll be 35 weeks pregnant, we're hoping for a low key NYE as well! I am dying over those Kate Spade shoes, though, and would absolutely wear them, even being preggo!
I am so obsessed with those heels! Now if only they were in my price range…

I'm totally with you! Even on special occasions, I'd rather be dressed comfortably.
