You guys know me (particularly my style) pretty well, and I think it’s safe to say that I love to feel comfortable, which often translates to casual. Give me a pair of jeans and a cozy sweater, and I’m one happy lady.
Despite that, and even though I work from home, I think one of my favorite closet staples is a pair of black pants. They’re not the most fun thing to purchase, but when an event or meeting pops up, I’m always glad I have a pair ready to go. My beloved J. Crew Minnie pants have seen better days, and since they retired the style, I’ve branched out to their Cameron Pant. I didn’t think I could love a pant more than the Minnie, but wow these are GOOD. They hug in the right places, lay perfectly in others, and have just enough stretch for a comfortable fit.
Black pants can be worn in a so many different ways. For a quick meeting, I wanted to go super simple with the outfit and then playful with my shoes. I’ve grown pickier with prints and prefer just a touch of it. How cute are these leopard loafers from Kate Spade?! I love the block heel and the pearl detailing. They’re fun but still chic.
I don’t know what’s gotten into me: I’ve been wearing so much black lately. I don’t hate it.
Also, I have to make a note about my Longchamp. I’ve had it since college and used it a ton. It was tucked away for a while, and I just pulled it out again. It’s such a good everyday handbag; I kind of forgot how much I loved it. Another closet staple for sure.
Okay while this wasn’t my intention when I started writing this post, this might as well be retitled “My Favorite Closet Staples.” Because a white oxford shirt and this sweater both top my list, too. I have the sweater in five colors– it’s great for layering and wearing on its own.

The shoes are such a great way to add a touch of leopard print – it’s always so hard not to overdo it and this is perfect! 🙂

Those loafers are absolutely adorable! I could definitely tell they were Kate Spade too, there’s something about her products that are so identifiable because they are well made but very cute.

Goes so well with the longchamp brown strap! Sometimes it’s just the little things. x

You look comfortable in black, Carly, but it’s certainly not what I’m used to seeing you in! Where’s the plaid? Where are the stripes? 🙂
I love the shoes. I love leopard print for an accessory more than clothes and I also like to keep the outfit simple, so that the leopard item can shine!

I love adding a touch of leopard with a pair of shoes and I so agree – black pants aren’t the most exciting, but they are great to have on hand!

Obsessed with this classic look and the leopard makes it pop! I used to love the Minnie pants too, but I’ve since moved on — now I wear pants from Loft!

All black is always so chic! But I always love a pop of colour (or a pop of leopard) too! This past week, I was just alternating between two pairs of black pants haha -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
