I can’t think of florals without quoting The Devil Wears Prada in my head. Last week I was invited to attend an event for Old Navy around their new floral dress collection. It’s so much easier to pop into the city for events and so I imagine I’m going to be going to more than I have the past few years.
Now, I was gifted an outfit to share on my Instagram, but also to wear to the party. It was the day after the Nor’Easter so I was pretty worried about the cold. I actually ended up wearing boots to the event. (I had a very Taylor Swift circa 2006 vibe going on.) I braved the cold for about thirty minutes to shoot the head-to-toe look with Carter. I wasn’t sure how the photos were going to turn out because there was still snow everywhere, I’m as pale as a ghost currently, and sandals are pretty chilly. But OMG I loved the whole outfit and the photos turned out great. Worth the numb hands 😉
The dress was definitely the main event for the night. It was pretty cool to walk into a space where about half of the people attending were dressed in similar floral dresses despite the harsh winter outside! Plus everyone had their own unique spin.
I wore it with a denim jacket, which I can’t believe is the first one I owned as an adult. (My sister and I had giant matching ones from Gap Kids back in the day.) Where has it been all my life?!?!?! I seriously can’t believe I’ve gone this long without one. I have a feeling I’m going to be wearing it quite frequently throughout the spring/summer. This one is under $40 and has just the right amount of stretch to it.
Also have to note the shoes and the tote. Guys, Old Navy makes the best shoes. Every pair I have tried on in the past year has been insanely comfortable and cute. Even though it’s definitely too cold for these flats, I can’t wait to bring them back out when it warms up.
(I do have one funny story about light pink shoes while we’re on the subject. I was in the Chanel store trying on shoes for fun one day with my friends and I had been eyeing the nude pair with the cap toe. You know, classic Chanel. Well, the salesperson and I– and everyone else in our vicinity– agreed that the nude did not work for my skin color. She went into the back and brought out a pale pink and, sure enough, it was the perfect nude for me. Not quite what I had in mind, haha.)
The tote is a great option if you want an affordable leather-looking bag. Both the black and brown work for all kinds of occasions, but I think the black would be particularly great as work tote!

Glad you braved the photoshoot after all, Carly! The photos look gorgeous and the dress is the cutest! The bag of flowers is a cute touch too. 🙂

I got my first (and only) denim jacket last summer and I love it! // The dress is all-around cute–the colours, the print, the slight ruffle at the bottom. The flats are super cute too! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
Looks chic, are you wearing the same one as old navy web site? That one is more yellowish though. Thanks.
Same jacket. Might just be a lighting situation!
Sorry, I’m talking about the dress 🙂
The online photo is accurate, I think the filter on my photos make it look slightly different!
I’m loving Old Navy’s pieces the last few seasons and their prices!
Thanks for sharing!
