6 Sweet Valentine’s Day Desserts

Are you guys doing something fun for Valentine’s Day? My friends and I got together for a movie night this weekend followed by a few appetizers. I’m tempted to whip up a few desserts though to snack on throughout the week! Loving Lou’s options (especially that flourless chocolate cake, omg).

6 Sweet Valentine’s Day Desserts

Even if you’re not the biggest fan of celebrating Valentine’s Day, I think having a reason to indulge in a little extra chocolate or dessert is pretty great. Whether you’re celebrating with a group of girlfriends for a ‘Galentine’s Day’ evening, or with your significant other, including some yummy dessert as part of your plans is pretty important.

I’ve rounded up what I think is the perfect combination of desserts, some indulgent chocolate recipes, some recipes for those who maybe don’t actually like chocolate, and some lighter and refreshing recipes (if you live somewhere warm, which, if you do, I am very jealous).

1. Homemade Truffles

This is such a fun recipe to make with a couple of your girlfriends! Make an evening out of it, and you’ll all end up with some truffles to bring home. Plus, these seem pretty impressive, so if you’re doing homemade gifts with your partner, they will be super impressed by these.

2. Dark chocolate brownie affogatos

You guys, this recipe is basically the dream dessert. Espresso + brownies + ice cream, sign me up! I highly recommend whipping up a batch of these brownies the night before and then assembling this dessert right before you’re going to eat it. It seems complicated, but it really is as simple as making brownies and serving with espresso and ice cream.

3. Gluten free brownies

Not quite the most romantic dessert, but these gluten-free brownies are perfect if you’re planning on spending the evening with your friends watching The Bachelor or attending a Galentine’s potluck.

4. Caramel apple crisp cheesecake

Yes, cheesecake for Valentine’s Day is the best idea imaginable. This cheesecake is one of my favorite dessert recipes I’ve posted.

5. Raspberry sorbet

This is a healthy and refreshing dessert. I would make this if you’re making something heavier for dinner, or if you are one of the lucky ones who lives somewhere warm!

6. Flourless chocolate cake

There used to be a restaurant around the corner from my house that served the most incredible flourless chocolate cake. When the restaurant closed down, I knew that I had to try creating this recipe at home, and voila, my favorite dessert is something that I can make all the time. I don’t think there is a more quintessential Valentine’s Day dessert!

I want to try to make the raspberry sorbet, that sounds so good!

I like to make rose flavored (aka use organic rose water for baking) desserts for Valentine’s Day. It adds a little bit of a twist to the usual desserts and is just so good (+ it reminds me of Laduree). I love making lavender rose cookies with rose water icing, lemon loafs with rose water or rose ice cream. So good and perfect for V Day!

PS: Carly — this is only my second time posting on your blog but I just want to say you are my #1 favorite blogger. I am a 26y.o. professional heading back to school for my MBA so I disagree that the College Prepster is only for college girls. 🙂 Would love to see another Lilly P. (my weakness) post with your favorite spring pieces as well as business casual/professional wear posts and a more detailed diet/workout routine post. Hope you will also consider doing another reddit thread some time this year! xx

These all look amazing. The Valentine’s season is so bad for my diet. My guilty pleasure are those hearts filled with the chocolate candies!

Affogato is amazing!! Seriously, if anyone hasn’t tried it before, you’re missing out. (Also, on a random and completely snobby note, affogato plural is affogati. I’m fluent in Italian so I like to teach people about the language 🙂 )
