7-Minute Summer Look with Sephora

I don’t know how the shift happened, but I have been having so much fun experimenting with skincare and beauty products. Actually, now that I’m writing this, it might be a hand-in-hand thing. Because I’ve been taking such great care of my skin, I feel more confident to try new things. And you know what? It’s fun!

I’m partnering with Sephora on this post to share some of my latest finds as well as old favorites. Sephora has always been my go-to for makeup and even more so now since one just opened up in Hoboken. It’s way too convenient and I find myself wandering around the aisles sometimes for an afternoon break, almost always finding at least one thing I want to try out!

I wanted to put together a quick summer look. I usually try to keep my makeup routine under five minutes partially out of impatience but also because I don’t know how to do anything that would require more time.

I’ll walk you through what I do, but first, let me show you four things that I’m loving for my summer beauty routine.          Sephora Before and After

Sephora Beauty

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz // Anastasia products were my first foray into eyebrow shaping and taming. My mom had the whole line when I was younger and I’d sneak into her bathroom to powder my brows with her stencils. I am always on the lookout for new brow products– I refuse to leave the house without “putting my eyebrows on.” Anastasia’s pencil is great! I love how much control and precision I have with the ultra-thin pencil. From the first stroke, I knew it was pure gold. I found the “ebony” shade to be the best match for my brows/hair.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder // This translucent setting powder is one of my beauty “secrets.” I use it year round, but it’s even more useful during the summer. It helps my makeup set and I have found that it really reduces shine as well. I watched a Youtube video where they used setting powder before and after applying foundation. I had only been using it over my foundation, but I really do notice a difference when I use it under my foundation too. If your makeup seems to “melt” off of you throughout the day or you’re getting a little shiny, definitely give this setting powder a try.

Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette // The Sephora team recommended this product to me. I definitely know how to use the more neutral shades and I’m excited to try out some of the more bold ones. I love that this palette gives you full range to go from classic, simple looks to bold, fun looks.

Sephora #Lipstories

Sephora Collection #Lipstories Lipstick // I think this was what I was most excited to discover. The whole lipstick line has a different destination and each tube has an illustration that reflects that place. Not going to lie, I totally picked out my shade (“Spring Break”) because I loved the Gray Malin-esque design. Turns out that I’m obsessed with the color too. And it goes on like butter. The smoothest application I’ve ever experienced in a lipstick. The best part though? It’s only $8!!! These would be the cutest gifts for girlfriends, or yourself! 😉

So here’s my summer makeup look from start to finish:

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

As I mentioned, I start with the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. I just brush it all over my face! Next, I use a beauty blender to apply foundation. Sometimes I’ll do a light layer or I may go over again for more coverage.

Nars Orgasm

Then I use bronzer and a touch of blush– this one has a touch of shimmer so it’s kind of like having a highlighter as well. I actually use the setting powder after my foundation, bronzer, and blush are applied to help everything set. Again, I just brush it around my face, particularly in my t-zone where I may experience more shininess on a humid summer day.

And I can’t forget my eyebrows! As I mentioned, I love the precision that the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz allows me. You can use the pencil to build up color and get the exact look that you want.

Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette

For my eyes, I used the “musk,” “desert sand,” and “oud” shades on the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette. I kept things pretty simple and light. “Musk” is the perfect nude for my skin tone and I can see myself wearing it on its own. I am always, always looking for the perfect eyeliner– Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye pencil has been the best thing I’ve tried in a while. It goes on so smooth and the color does not smudge. I switch between black, grey, and browns… and I’m in a brown liner kind of mood lately. I went with “demolition” this time around.

Urban Decay Eyeliner

And no summer beauty routine would be complete without a bright, fun lip. The Sephora Collection #Lipstories “Spring Break” is definitely going to be my favorite of the summer. Such a great color that feels just right for these warm months.

And a quick seven minutes later (less if you’re an eyeshadow + eyeliner pro!), voilà!

You look just as beautiful in your before photo as you do in your glam after photo!

Thanks for sharing this look–so sophisticated! Would love to see another post on how you experiment with some of the bolder shades.

Hey! You can also use a light dusting of that setting powder (I use Ben Nye) to lock in your lipstick. Put some on a fluffy brush, then tap the brush out onto your lipstick and smush your lips together to set the powder in. (Alternatively, put some powder on your finger and press it into your lipstick…) I find that it definitely helps to lock down smoother finishes of lipstick that tend to wander, like Besame’s semi-mattes. I also recommend Urban Decay’s Ozone Multipurpose Primer, because it’s the BEST base for keeping bright lipstick in place.

The Anastasia Brow Wiz is fantastic, but I found I was going through a single pencil too fast. The Anastasia Dipbrow is the exact same but more for your bang! Hope others appreciate it as well.

Hi! I have a question – you start with the loose powder and foundation, but then you apply more loose powder? Does it feel heavy or make your face look cakey?

Not at all!! It’s a VERY fine powder and translucent so it actually helps the makeup blend in better with my skin!
