Fall Fabric Round Up

This is not going to be a post that resonates with everyone… but I wanted to share some of the fall fabrics I recently purchased. I don’t have a ton of time to sew right now, but mid-September I plan on getting back into the saddle. I have a couple of pillows I want to make… and a couple of patterns for super cute baby clothes for my friends’ kids… and (of course) more face masks. My big goal is to find a pattern for some sort of article of clothing to make for myself too. Jury’s still out on what exactly that will be though!

Some of my “late summer” masks (lol!). Left to right: Hydrangea Fabric // Similar Blue Floral // Blue Flowers // Citrus Floral // Block Print

Nothing makes me want to sew more than finding a beautiful fabric. I have seen a lot of memes in the sewing community about fabric collections and not being able to stop collecting. I GET IT. It’s such a slippery slope for me. I rarely have any idea what I want to even sew, but I need the fabric. Ha!

Shop some of my favorites below. It’s hard to find fall fabric that isn’t orange, pumpkins, and ghosts.

If you guys find great fabric please do let me know! I’m always on the hunt 🕵🏻‍♀️

Ha! My kids are most excited about pumpkins, ghosts, etc. so their masks can have themes! It’s one of the few positive things about having to wear masks, they want to match their outfits or the current holiday or season.

Yes! I get it. I’m trying to look for fabrics too. Sometimes you see a fabric and it’s so beautiful that you just need it. I’ve been learning how to sew to going to start making my own masks soon. Your masks are beautiful! Do you have a tutorial on how to make the masks?

I’ve been using the tutorial Carly posted this spring to make masks for months! She linked a video as well that was super helpful, it for sure got easier once I got into a ‘groove’ of how they go together, highly recommend.

So this is a bit of a stretch, but I’ve found that face masks with 3-4 layers of muslin are SO nice. And for fall fabrics… Mebie Baby has some beautiful ones! The muslin swaddles are quite large and after a washing the fabric is incredibly soft. I’m buying an extra to make my daughter a pillow for her crib and using the extra fabric for some pretty masks 😊

Hi Carly – I was hoping you’d do a post rounding up fabric for the Fall! I’ve been on the hunt too. I love what you found. Rifle recently restocked some of their fabrics online and I placed an order this week, but after seeing what you found, I will definitely “need” to order more fabric! Thank you!

Check out the #wilderdress on Instagram. It’s a super cute and versatile pattern from Friday Pattern Company. I think you’d really like it either for the dress or as a shirt.

I love these & just ordered from AA Cotton Creations! I would love a post on ~men’s~ masks. I find picking fabric for men so hard!

I want all of these to be wallpapers too! Any plans to use some of these to do at-home needlepoint finishing?

Love these fabrics! Wondering where have you been looking for patterns to see something for yourself? I have been wanting to use new sewing machine to make something for myself too but all of the patterns I’ve seen look straight out of the 60s and not in a chic way!

Tell me about it Carly! Finding fabric that’s not cheesy pumpkins and trucks with hay and pumpkins is so hard. I went to Hobby Lobby with my mom and those were all the fabrics she kept recommend I buy ha!!! I’ll have to send you a website I found…they had really beautiful fall fabrics that came out later Sept/early Oct and I really loved them. =)

I have a secret confession! I enjoy fabric designs and their possibilities so much that I spend an abnormal amount of time on the Vera Bradley website designing my perfect custom tote or backpack! It’s addicting!
