DIARY No. 120

Here’s what we have been up to according to my camera roll the past couple of weeks:

We have been savoring the last bit of Mike’s parental leave as a family by squeezing in some fun summertime adventures. The four of headed to a putt putt place by us for an afternoon of “golfing.” I love putt putt. It just feels like “vacation” to me, even though we were 10 minutes from our house!

Our J. Crew has been closed for a number of months for renovations and it finally reopened! It is gorgeous! I walked by it while running another errand so I, unfortunately, didn’t have enough time to shop. I did a quick spin through though and was blown away by how beautiful, clean, and streamlined everything looked. So happy they’re back!

Speaking of “family adventures,” Jack requested to play in the woods so we went to a local park near us that has a great path for walking/running/biking. It’s usually super busy, but we went on a very (very!) humid and hot days so it felt like we had the park to ourselves. Because it was so hot, we didn’t last very long out there! Eventually we packed it in and headed straight to CVS for Gatorade to rehydrate!!

I took Jack to our pond for a mama/son swimming date. We got there and it looked like it was going to get rained out… and then the sun came out!

I have been in a good groove of making time to get to the gym. I had to wear my new Pleasant Company t-shirt, haha, I just love it so much.

My custom Lingua Franca sweatshirt (LFCARLY10 for 10% off) arrived and it’s everything I hoped it would be and more.

I also got inspired by a few videos on TikTok to paint a “Family Birthday Celebration” plate! I am going to try to coordinate a time with friends to go back and do it as a big group too– it would be a perfect “mom date” activity.

I took a tennis lesson one night and Mike brought the boys to the pond towards the end so we could link up and do a family dinner pond-side. I did the lesson with a friend and we had a great time. I’ve taken lessons on and off, but it had been five years since my last one! Definitely need to keep practicing.

Sorry for the jumpscare here! I bought a red light mask and I am loving it. I put it on and let it cycle through the 10 minute session while I listen to a meditation. I just started using it and I swear my skin looked more even after one session. I’m excited to keep using it to see more results.

Speaking of tennis lessons… Jack had his first official tennis lesson! It was a group lesson for three to five year olds and Jack got permission to join a week shy of his third birthday. He was the youngest one (and the only boy!), but I think he did great!!

Then we had this epic storm!! There was bad thunderstorms forecasted this week (before Hurricane Debby even made its way up here). Our town got hit insanely hard though. I’ve never experienced anything like it. The National Weather Service came to town to investigate whether it was a tornado or not. Even if it wasn’t, the wind was unbelievable and trees alllllll over town fell within minutes. We had giant branches fall on our garage and then one big tree uprooted and fell onto our family room. We were thankfully fine and there was very minimal damage all things considered!

A few of my girlfriends and I went to Chili’s for a GNO. Super chill and it was exactly what we all needed after the storm! We wanted margaritas and chips & salsa and Chili’s delivered. 10/10 recommend doing this with your girlfriends!

Warby Parker let me pick out new frames and I’m loving them. I got the anti-fatigue lenses specifically for reading, needlepointing, and working on my computer. (Those are the times where I really need my glasses!)
