This afternoon, I’m packing and getting ready for… the Head of the Charles!
I miss rowing a little bit, but I’m way more into watching it. Someone asked me if I wanted to cox here in the city and I really didn’t want to. I feel like that part of my life is over, at least in terms of actively participating. Watching the sport? So much better.
(I’ve actually been reading a book about crew… and about every other night, I have some sort of stressful dream about crew. My rowers all miss their alarms and are late for practice. Another boat runs into us. I run into another boat. We can’t find the right oars on the trailer before a race. We’re in the middle of the river when a thunderstorm hits… You know, normal dreams.)
I’m excited to be in Boston to see some old friends who live there and old teammates who are still racing. Eep! I can’t wait.
Some #flashbackfriday pictures that I’m pretty sure have never been on the blog before…
Alex was my stroke. We “went out” senior year. Except for one time when we screamed at each other in the middle of a practice and then had to be separated from each other (whoops), it was always fun!
Hands down, the most ridiculous/fun boat ever. We had a funny little code word (“pineapple” to signal when to crank up the rating). Now that I think about it, it was beyond weird… but equally fun.
Included for the sock tan… I missed a day of school (and gave up my perfect attendance record) for this regatta. Not one of my favorites for racing, but it was fun as a team.
My favorite rowers and my favorite picture.
Clearly a coxswain family… #shorties
If you’re planning on attending the races, let me know! We’ll be there Saturday for most of the afternoon!
I just moved to Boston and I am so excited to watch the races this year!! I was a coxswain in high school/college and loved racing at the Charles…I turned down coxing there this year and I definitely have had those stressful dreams (which makes me confident about turning the position down!!)
I'm so jealous of all these Head of the Charles posts – I miss rowing, but definitely not getting up at 4am…I've considered rowing, but only in the afternoon 😉
I stumbled across this blog today. I didn't realize you went to Plant.. and now it comes back to me that Miss Hillary Trupp had told me about your blog before! Small world.

🎧 Five 5-Star Audiobooks I Listened to This Year ✨
Audiobooks have been my secret weapon for fitting reading into a busy life. Whether I’m folding laundry, driving to preschool drop-off, or squeezing in a solo walk, I can dive into a story at the touch of a button—and @Audible makes it so easy. This year, I listened to some incredible audiobooks, but these five stood out as absolute favorites:
📚 A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith: A beautifully written coming-of-age classic. I didn’t want it to end and could absolutely see myself re-listening in a few years.
📚 None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell: A psychological thriller with unreliable narrators that kept me guessing the whole way through.
📚 Such a Bad Influence by Olivia Muenter: Part mystery, part family drama—flawed characters, a gripping storyline, and a chef’s kiss ending.
📚 All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker: A masterpiece of storytelling that starts as a serial killer mystery and evolves into something much bigger.
📚 Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors: A stunning exploration of sisterhood, grief, and imperfect people. The ending left me in tears (happy ones!).
#sponsored Bedtime with two little boys can be hectic to say the least! 😅 But I try to do what I can to make the transition smoother and help my baby get the best sleep possible. 💤 Desitin Maximum Strength Baby Diaper Rash Cream is the #1 pediatrician-recommended choice for diaper rash relief. The rich, thick formula creates a protective barrier on Rory’s skin, working for up to 12 hours to treat, heal, protect, soothe, and prevent diaper rash. And after bathtime, we use @aveenobaby Calming Comfort Lotion. This nourishing lotion, made with prebiotic oat, keeps my baby’s skin soft and smooth for 24 hours. Plus, the calming scent is perfect for winding down before bedtime. A little prep goes a long way in making bedtime easier for everyone! 🍼💤 Both are available on Amazon
Holding on for dear life this December ❤️ I have had SO MANY conversations this week with my friends near and far and we are *all* struggling. I have to say, just knowing it’s not just me feeling the pressure of “end of year-holiday magic- cold/flu/stomach bug season-darkest days of the year,” has made it a little easier to handle. Don’t forget to take care of yourself, too 😮💨 (Telling myself this because I could use the reminder too!)
If I hadn’t already mailed our Christmas cards*, I would be ordering a reprint because this first photo is IT. ⭐️💂🏻♀️
*Actually only half because for some reason, I didn’t order enough? Our list must have grown over the past year or I just underestimated how many people were on it! I had to order more so the second half will be going out later whoops!!
Traded in my mom jeans for a @jcrew tuxedo this holiday season! Whether you’re dressing up, getting cozy, or picking out a gift for someone special, J. Crew has you covered! #injcrew #sponsored

#ZarbeesPartner I love putting together thoughtful gifts for new moms and their families. Especially as the seasons change, having the right products helps everyone feel prepared and at ease. You can never predict when your household will get hit by a cold or flu so I always recommend having trusted products on hand so you’re never left in a pinch. For this gift, I included our go-to @zarbees Baby Daytime & Nighttime Cough Syrup + Immune. Made with organic agave to soothe baby’s dry throat and zinc to support their immune system, it’s safe for little ones 6 months and older. The nighttime formula even has chamomile to calm and comfort before bedtime—a must-have for peaceful nights 💛 Be prepared and order on @amazon.
