Beauty Faves

Last week, one of my friends who works at Alison Brod PR invited me to the office for a little tour and introduction to the brands. She brought me into the beauty closet and let me tell you, even for someone like me who isn’t into makeup, it was heaven on earth. Rows and rows and rows of hundreds of boxes of makeup. Unreal. I walked out with a ton of new products to try.
The next day I Snapchatted (are you following along yet?) the results of trying a handful of the products and I received a bunch of questions about my beauty routine.
So… I have to really admit here, I’m not very adventurous about makeup. In face, I don’t know what I’m doing 99% of the time and when I find something I love, I stick to it. When I did my holiday makeup tutorial at the end of last year, you could substitute in just about any word for “holiday” and the makeup tutorial would still be the same. Everyday makeup. Five minute morning makeup. Fancy makeup. Summer party makeup. I wear the same things all the time.
But the emails inquiring were too frequent to ignore. I’ll share some of my favorite things that I reach for daily.

Skincare

Origins Charcoal Mask: I started doing more masks in my mid-twenties and now I can’t go a week without doing one. I can feel the difference in my skin. I have quite in my bathroom and love them all, even the cheap ones you can get at the drug store. The best one and the one I find myself using the most is definitely the Origins Charcoal Mask. Supposedly the charcoal pulls the impurities from your skin, especially pores. Unlike other masks that can be a pain to remove (where you basically have to take a shower to get it all off), this goes from a hard mask to a frothy cleanser with a touch of warm water! Love.

Fresh Soy Cleanser: This is my favorite cleanser. By far. It removes makeup and most importantly leaves my skin better than ever. It’s such a simple cleanser and I think that’s why I like it so much. I’ve been using it for years consistently and trust me when I say, my skin has never been clearer.

Origins Night-A-Mins: If you’re looking for a new moisturizer… you have to get this. I swear by it. Of all the products here, this one has been the biggest game changer for my beauty routine. (There’s an oil free version that looks identical, but I prefer the original formula.) I bought this at the recommendation of an incredible Sephora saleswoman and I wish I could go back and give her the biggest hug!

Kiehl’s Primer: A chic New Yorker friend of mine turned me onto this primer. It’s so great that you could honestly skip the rest of your makeup and still look killer. (Perfect for those days when you want to look good but don’t want to wear makeup.) It feels soooooo good going on. And if you do put on makeup after, it “sticks” so well to the primer.

Makeup

Bareminerals Mascara: One thing that I’m almost always willing to try is mascara. I love buying new drugstore mascara all the time to give it a go. Whenever I have to really look great though, I reach for this Bareminerals mascara. It works unbelievably well.

Laura Geller Setting Powder: This is a new-to-me product from my visit to Alison Brod. Obsessed. Is. An. Understatement. I’ve never in my life used a setting powder. I actually had to google it to figure out what I was supposed to even do with it. I was glowing after applying it all over. Like. Legit glowing. It’s magical. (Actually loved all the Laura Geller products… even the packaging was adorable.)

Bobbi Brown Brow Shaper: This is one of those “how did I live without this?” products. I don’t feel myself until I put my eyebrows on. It looks like a mini mascara bottle and you swipe the wand through your brows. Not only does it fill in your brows perfectly, it helps keep the hairs stay in place throughout the day.

Laura Geller Brush/Bronzer: I have a bronzer I’ve used for years, but I think this will officially replace it. Instead of just being a bronzer, it looks a lot more realistic since it blends a few colors together, including a gorgeous blushy look.

Lips

Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm: One of my friends recommended this to me and now I can’t get enough of it. It smells good. It feels good. And it looks so good.

Almay Lipstick: This is a constant in my lip routine. It’s the perfect everyday lipstick for me. I typically can’t commit to a full lip, although I may love it. This is just much more manageable and looks incredible on. Just the right amount of color without feeling like I’m going to have lipstick all over my face and teeth.

Obviously these are not the only products I use, but these definitely take the cake for the ones I use the most frequently and the ones I really love. Highly recommend everything here!

xoxo

I'm not big on makeup either. I basically wear just the essentials like mascara, nude eyeshadow, and tinted lip balm. But with a lot of internship interviews and events, I need to have a more "dressy" makeup routine. I am going to have to give the Origins skincare a try. I'd much rather try to have clear skin than cover it up with makeup! Thanks for the tips!

I'm the same way about makeup – it's the same thing every time regardless of event, and I only learned how to do the majority of that stuff about a year ago! Didn't even know what primer was and had never worn foundation in my life! I have super sensitive skin so I'm always wary of trying anything new…but some of these seem really great so I might give them a try!

Do you have a link for the Kiehls primer? Right now it goes to mascara, and I would really like to check it out!

My life became devastated when my husband sent me packing, after 8 years that we have been together. I was lost and helpless after trying so many ways to make my husband take me back. One day at work, i was absent minded not knowing that my boss was calling me, so he sat and asked me what its was all about i told him and he smiled and said that it was not a problem. I never understand what he meant by it wasn't a problem getting my husband back, he said he used a spell to get his wife back when she left him for another man and now they are together till date and at first i was shocked hearing such thing from my boss. He gave me an email address of the great spell caster who helped him get his wife back, i never believed this would work but i had no choice that to get in contact with the spell caster which i did, and he requested for my information and that of my husband to enable him cast the spell and i sent him the details, but after two days, my mom called me that my husband came pleading that he wants me back, i never believed it because it was just like a dream and i had to rush down to my mothers place and to my greatest surprise, my husband was kneeling before me pleading for forgiveness that he wants me and the kid back home, then i gave Happy a call regarding sudden change of my husband and he made it clear to me that my husband will love me till the end of the world, that he will never leave my sight. Now me and my husband is back together again and has started doing pleasant things he hasn't done before, he makes me happy and do what he is suppose to do as a man without nagging.
