I love cardigans. They’re so versatile, and nowadays I usually wear them buttoned all the way up or draped over my shoulders. I definitely have my favorites, like this one and this one, that I pull out once the weather cools down. For this roundup of the best cardigans for fall, though, I wanted to share some less simple options that have caught my eye recently. Scallops and bows and collars, oh my!!
Best Cardigans for Fall 2024
Crochet Trim Cardigan // Horsebit Pocket Cardigan // Short Puff Sleeve Cardigan
Frilled Collar Cardigan // Pearl Trim Cardigan // Checked Cardigan
Bow Cardigan // Ruffled Collar Cardigan // Scalloped Trim Cardigan
Crochet Trim Cardigan // For how much I like Sezane, I really don’t post about them enough. The exaggerated crochet trim and buttons look almost whimsical in a way… but still VERY chic. It reminds me of a more distinctive take on J.Crew’s lady jacket!
Horsebit Pocket Cardigan // I’m loving the equestrian trend happening right now. The horsebit pockets and crested buttons nod to it in a more subtle way, and I think the of this cardigan is more than fair for how elevated it looks.
Short Puff Sleeve Cardigan // I LOVE cashmere– it makes for the best fall cardigans. The short puff sleeves are darling, but unsurprisingly, the scalloped trim is my personal favorite detail.
Frilled Collar Cardigan // I blame my mom brain, but I can’t remember if I own a collared cardigan or not! This one feels more subtle than other options, if you’d rather dip your toe into the trend. I also love the navy.
Pearl Trim Cardigan // I know I included this on my roundup of the best *fall* cardigans, but I think this is one you can buy now and pull out for holiday parties later. The pearl trim is exactly my kind of fun!
Checked Cardigan // I don’t gravitate toward many patterns in the fall/winter, but this menswear-inspired option really caught my eye. The buttons, of course, are the best part to me!
Bow Cardigan // I had to, right?! The oversized velvet bows are just too cute and I love how you can dress the cardigan up or down.
Ruffled Collar Cardigan // Another collar! I didn’t know it was possible for ruffles to look cozy, but these definitely do. This cardigan looks like it’s selling out quickly in the gray, but the green is absolutely adorable.
Scalloped Trim Cardigan // I simply cannot resist scallops. The contrast trim makes them stand out all the more and I’m here for it.
These are so cute and getting me excited for fall weather! Question for you (not that you have to be an expert but curious your thoughts – maybe a future blog post?). I had no problem spending $200 on a piece I knew I’d use and love pre-kids. Now with a (snuggly sticky) toddler, I find myself hesitant to wear those pieces. Do you tend to change into comfy clothes for most of your day? Do a lot of spot cleaning and stain fighting? Consider that getting dressed-dressed is part of your job so the occasional stain is just the cost of doing business? No wrong answers, but would love to hear your perspective. Thanks!
For the most part I’m wearing the clothes (I tend to change when I want to relax- during naptime or around dinner). But I realized I wasn’t wearing my clothes if I was waiting for a special occasion so now I try to just put them on and live and let live!
