BEST GIFTS FOR 2 YEAR OLDS

Jack’s second birthday is in less than three months! I can barely believe it. Where has the time gone?? He has everything he needs and more, but that hasn’t stopped me from brainstorming what to get him. I thought it’d be fun to round up some of the best gifts for 2 year olds – some he already owns and loves, others that have been recommended by friends, and even more that I’ve discovered in my search.

Best Gifts for 2 Year Olds

PAJAMAS // SCOOTER // BLOCKS // COVERUP

STEPPING STONES // BALANCE BIKE // TRAMPOLINE // SUNGLASSES

TONIEBOX // BIRD FEEDER // STORYTELLING PROJECTOR

Let’s get the “boring” things out of the way first: our favorite pajamas, the most darling coverup, and the coolest sunglasses. The first reaction may be to buy them the latest and greatest toy, but all that stuff adds up fast. I’ve also seen toddlers get pretty excited about more practical things!! (The sunglasses in particular also make great birthday party gifts! Invitations are already rolling in for Jack’s friends….)

I think a lot of the best gifts for 2 year olds are the ones that encourage open ended play. We already subscribe to the Lovevery Montessori toy boxes (I hesitated for a while, but they really are the best), and this block set looks wonderful. After the bird watch of 2021, I imagine this transparent bird feeder you can mount to your window would surprise and delight both Jack and me! I’ve seen the Toniebox, an audio player for programmed stories and songs, all over and it’s definitely tempting. This storytelling projector is basically a cheaper, visual version that looks just as fun.

I’m all for anything that gets Jack’s energy out, so in addition to the scooter he’s obsessed with (one of the best toys for 2 year olds, ever), I have friends who swear by this mini trampoline and stepping stones that can be used indoors and outdoors. After having such great luck with the Retrospec walker/balance bike, this toddler balance bike is the perfect upgrade. Bonus points for aesthetics!

Can’t recommend the tonie box enough as a former teacher staying home with my 4 and 2 year olds! It is used 3-4 hours a day between quiet time and bedtime for older one, music for younger one. Also a lifesaver for car trips! Peter Rabbit, Eric Carle, Brown Bear, Elmer, and Curious George are fan favorites. Also family members (like grandparents!) can record themselves reading on creative tonies.

You do pay for the content per figurine (about $20), so our littles receive them as a birthday gift, stocking stuffer, etc. I’ll stop, but this screen free contraption is a winner – I am on the hunt for a second box. 🙂
