The holiday season is such a magical time in our home. As soon as Thanksgiving is behind us, we dive headfirst into all things festive: decorating the tree, baking cookies, and playing Christmas music on repeat. This year, though, we’re adding a new tradition to our repertoire and I have a feeling that it’s quickly going to become a family favorite: listening to classic holiday audiobooks together. Audible has the best selection of holiday classics and modern favorites– I put together a list, which you can see here.
I’ve always loved the way audiobooks can transform everyday moments into something special. Whether it’s during a car ride, a quiet afternoon at home, or bedtime, there’s something so cozy and nostalgic about sitting together and listening to a story. I’m always looking for good activities to do with the boys that don’t require a lot of ~things~ and that can lead to cozier moments and audiobooks fit the bill!
Now through January 21st, eligible Amazon customers in the US can sign up for Audible Premium Plus for $0.99 for the first three months. And customers who sign up between now and December 2 will also receive an additional $20 credit!
We kicked off our holiday listening with How the Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Seuss! The boys were absolutely entranced. Jack, at almost three and a half, is really starting to get into the whole experience and he was mesmerized by hearing the story.
We will definitely have more get pulled into rotation like A Christmas Carol (read by Hugh Grant!) and Dasher by Matt Tavares. I am so excited to really create lasting memories with my boys and come up with these new traditions.
I’ve been using Audible to find and download these stories, and it’s been such a lifesaver. Whether we’re driving to see the Christmas lights around town, wrapping gifts together, or just enjoying a quiet moment in between acitivies, Audible makes it easy to bring the magic of these stories into our day. I can even turn one on while we’re all in the kitchen baking cookies or even let the Jack listen independently during some rare downtime. (They especially come in handy when Rory is either napping or nursing!)
If you’re looking for a simple, special way to create holiday memories with your family, I can’t recommend holiday audiobooks enough. They’ve brought us closer, helped us slow down during a busy season, and added an extra sprinkle of magic to our days.
What are your favorite holiday traditions or go-to audiobooks? I’d love to hear how your family makes the season bright!
