HILL HOUSE FALL

As you know, I’ve been swept away by the amazing fall clothes coming up. However, it’s still August and it’s still hot, hot, hot. Whew! I’ve been having a bit of whiplash while getting ready in the morning because I need to wear my summer clothes, but I’m craving the fall color palette that I love so much. (Fall weather wouldn’t hurt either….)

This dress from the fall Nap Dress collection checks all my boxes right now. A lightweight dress that you can comfortably wear in 90 degree weather in a rich fall hue. The fact that I can also wear this with a little bit of a baby bump is just the cherry on top. I love that this is very much a “wear now and later” dress, too. I think it’d be so cute styled with a blazer or a denim jacket and sneakers when the weather cools off (if it cools off…).

I’ve already had fun experimenting with different accessories. I wore it with a pair of woven brown ballet flats the other day and loved the green and brown.

In terms of sizing, this Nap Dress fits a little more snug than previous ones I’ve owned. I think it’s because of the additional detailing on the smocking. I still got my normal Ellie Nap Dress size though (the rest of the dress feels the same size), just something to keep in mind if you prefer a more relaxed feel with the smocking.

I agree that this is a great transitional piece. I am curious about what outerwear you would style it with to make it warmer for the cooler fall days

I love this! Would you say the cotton is more similar to the green gingham or poplin?

I think poplin! It’s a little stiffer/crunchier. Not always my preference, however, with this smocking detailing, I think it makes the dress look a little more elevated as the skirt has a more defined structure, if that makes sense.
