INs and OUTs of 2025

HELLO! I’m back after quite an extended break from blogging. It wasn’t exactly a relaxing break with all of the holiday festivities, regular parenthood life, and the 4,000 illnesses that were circulating! Regardless, it was nice to step away from work! I’m writing this on Sunday night and I will say that pretty much up until this morning, I wasn’t ready to return, in fact, I was kind of dreading it. Usually I get a big burst of inspiration after a period of time away. I think I was just feeling extra burnt out. I kept waiting, and waiting, and inspiration was not striking. And then I woke up and I was ready. Not necessarily crazy inspired– but I certainly felt the itch to get back to work and, you know what, in this stage of life? I’ll take it!

The “ins and outs” trend on social media is a fun one! I did it last year on Instagram and I intend on sharing mine on there too later today. Over the past few days, I’ve been thinking about what are my ins and outs for the year… and I like where I landed:

Ins and outs of 2025 graphic
  • IN:

  • More freedom, firmer boundaries
  • Silver
  • Red as a neutral
  • Spontaneous lunch dates
  • Photography
  • Redefining perfection
  • Silk scarves
  • Going to the movies
  • Trying new hobbies
  • Luxurious showers
  • OUT:

  • Sticking with a book I’m not enjoying
  • Letting my car be a mess
  • Guilt around sweet treats
  • Unnecessary people pleasing
  • The comparison game
  • Staying up too late
  • Over complicating things
  • Holding in emotions

PS As a bit of housekeeping, I’m currently in the process of figuring out where/how I want my email newsletter to live. I’ve been using Mailchimp for years as it’s the only service that sends out a daily email automatically with the RSS feed of my blog but it has become so expensive with the number of subscribers that the service isn’t worth it at the moment. Apologies if you miss getting emails, but I hope to have a new solution soon!

People pleasing and finishing books just to finish them- good riddance! How do you like to style silk scarves? I have a gorgeous solid red one that I don’t use nearly enough.

Love this. Amen to quitting a book. My toxic trait is not quitting a book and for the first time I didn’t meet my goodreads goal (IYKYK😆). Here’s to letting the bad ones go!

I love these “in” and “out” trends for 2025! Making my own list as well. I’d also love to see a blog post on your 5 star reads of 2024!
