Oh….. posting these photos is borderline torturous. As I type this, I have the space heater on high next to me and a blanket over my lap. I totally wish I were still at Caneel Bay!
I am absolutely in love with this Lilly Pulitzer maxi dress. It is beyond comfortable and easy to wear and yet it makes you look like you put a lot more effort into the outfit. I wore this the first night we were at the resort. After an entire day of travel (flight, taxi, ferry), I was already pretty exhausted by the time dinner rolled around. This was the perfect thing to throw on for a nice dinner.
I feel like maxi dresses in general are tricky. They can be super casual and a little on the flimsy/revealing side. I 100% love how this maxi is conservative with the long sleeves, but still shows enough shape to feel confident without being too revealing. It’s a win, win.
For coverups, I brought this dress and the tunic pictured here. Caneel is pretty casual and you can wear coverups to breakfast and lunch. I still like to feel “dressed” though. I love the beading on this tunic and how it’s lightweight but not see through. (FYI, it runs a bit small. I suggest going up a size.)
That maxi is flawless on you!! I totally know what you mean by maxi dresses sometimes being too revealing – when they are skin tight I feel super self-conscious! I can't wait to check out this dress at our store!! xo
I love the maxi dress, but I'm on the shorter end of the scale and idk if I could pull off a 1) maxi dress with 2) busy prints. Ah this post has got me aching for summer! I'd probably get the tunic myself, but I've always wanted a maxi dress! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's
Totally with you about how tricky the maxi dress can be! I love the bold print because it means minimal accessories would be needed since it's already so special. Stunning photos as always!
I'm really loving that maxi dress, and that tunic is so cute! Caneel looks so pretty, it's definitely on my list of places to go! xx, Mikkaela Southwestern Prepster
I'm very much a black/white/no-pattern gal, but I have one navy/white polka dot Lilly Pulitzer, and I just love it. It's a perfect little summer dress – easy to pack & easy to wear.
Both of these outfits are gorgeous! And I totally feel ya- looking that these photos makes me want to be somewhere tropical too. Glad I'm not the only one!
I'm obsessed with Lilly & I've been trying to decide on the perfect maxi dresses to take on my honeymoon to Savannah and the beginning of June-This one just might fit that bill!
Nothing says summer to me like finally being able to have dinner outside with our friends. We are gearing up for al fresco dining with @mackenziechilds pieces in their iconic Royal Check– the blue and white pattern couldn’t be more “me” and fits in perfectly with my summertime aesthetic. I especially love that each #mackenziechilds handcrafted piece has a unique signature of its own and no two pieces are identical. Don’t forget to use my exclusive code CARLYROYAL15 to save 15% off for the next 48 hours. Valid once per shopper. #MCPartner #RoyalCheckCollection
Move over coastal grandmother, it’s going to be a red hot summer for me ❤️💃🏻🔥 I am love-love-loving red lately and I am incorporating the hue more and more into my everyday outfits. It’s a little bolder than I typically go for and, even though I’m three months postpartum, I’m feelin’ it! 👉🏻 Leave a comment saying “red” and I’ll send you the links to my outfits featured in the Reel!
My little roar-bear and I made it through the fourth trimester together 🧸 These past twelve weeks have flown by. I can’t wrap my head around the fact that we only just met- I feel like I have known Rory my whole life.
I have been calling myself a Chill Mom™️ since having Jack and now I’m realizing that I’m even chiller with Rory. (Like is birth order really less about sibling order and more about the version of mom you’re born to?) I’ve been just rolling with Rory’s infancy and I’m so much happier. Maybe it’s just that I’m more tired with a toddler too, or know that it’s going to go by so fast, or just have more confidence… probably a combination. I feel less obsessive and less stressed out by the details. I’m “making it” without having to fake it. As an example, today I noticed I hadn’t tracked a single nap- just watching sleepy cues and trying to get to a “good enough” pattern as Rory’s naps consolidate. Is he following a ~perfect~ nap schedule? No. Are we thriving? Frankly, yes!
(If you want to read my original Chill Mom post, comment “chill mom” and l’ll send it to you via DM!)
We came, we saw elephants, we ate ice cream 🐘🦒🦓 @ashleybrooke and I always talk about how we became FAST friends. Somehow we have been right there with each other during some of life’s worst moments… so it’s extra sweet that we now get to celebrate the good ones! Watching our boys play together, a little baby in a stroller, and another baby on the way… it’s everything we dreamed of.
