Woof. It’s been… a week? Words fail me right now. This is me trying to show up to work. My social feeds, in person conversations, group chats, and internal thoughts are pretty consumed right now with the election news. So I’m showing up here, today, trying to keep things light. That’s not to say things are light– they aren’t– but maybe you need something light and casual in at least one space, as do I.
Here’s what has been on my radar this week:
ONE // Black Evening Dress
Finding evening appropriate gowns for weddings that don’t completely break the bank is getting harder and harder. I’m always on the hunt for great wedding guest dresses because it’s probably one of the most frequently asked questions I get from readers. The search is hard (especially when taking into account different dress codes. This black dress is simple enough to work for different levels of dress codes and can be accessorized uniquely as well. Plus, the bows.
TWO // Little Free Library Halloween Costume
Well the countdown to Halloween 2025 is on and if you’re already thinking about your costume, haha, I have a great one for you. A Little Free Library!! Omg my Little Free Library sparks so much joy and I think this is an absolutely brilliant costume.
THREE // Metallic Mary-Janes
I’m on such a Mary-Jane kick lately. I just can’t seem to get enough of the silhouette. And what’s better than a flat? A heel. And a comfortable heel at that. And in metallic?! So chic. This would make the perfect shoe for a holiday party if you want something you can wear all night without giving up style.
FOUR // Yo-Yo Ma
This video of Yo-Yo Ma playing his cello brought me to tears. It was originally posted a month ago, but showed up on my explore page this week at just the right time. It truly moved me. I’ve had his music going non-stop on Spotify ever since. (And found out he’s playing in NYC next month… trying to see if I can get there… I think my soul needs it.)
FIVE // Pre-Stitched Needlepoint Stockings
Want beautiful needlepoint stockings to hang on your mantle without having to commit to the months of stitching? These are absolutely gorgeous!
Love the metallic Mary janes! So cute!!

I also really appreciated when you shared that Yo-Yo Ma video on instagram, so soothing. We watched the John Williams documentary on Disney+ last night and I think you would love it, Yo-Yo Ma is featured a few times, but mostly it’s just about the wonderful music John Williams has created in the movies we’ve grown up with. It’s a loving, happy doc about his life and work and it felt like a much needed big hug.
was waiting to see if you would mention the election. (woof…it’s been a tough last 3.5 years, please realize more than 1/2 of the country voted for Trump. Please unsubcribe me from your blog. 🙂
It’s not an airport– no need to announce your departure 👍🏻
100% read that you dressed up YOUR little library for Halloween. lol.
I also found that Yo Yo Ma video this week and that tune is one of my favorites. I’m from Chicago and last week I took my dad to see the Chicago Symphony Orchestra play two of our favorite pieces and it was such a wonderful evening. There’s something about classical music, it just hits differently!
Last year I bought the L.L. Bean needlepoint stockings for myself and my husband. They are cotton stitched instead of wool, but have a similar aesthetic for a much more attainable price point!
