On My Radar

This was a great week filled with a little bit of everything. From finding a solution for my permanent retainer (I was pretty sure it moved & it’s holding my front two teeth together!), spending a little bit of time with Mike’s nieces, speaking to an amazing group of students at Rutgers Prep, and getting my biggest campaign for the blog to date.

Okay here’s what was on my radar this week:

ONE // Hamilton the Movie

Great news for all you Hamilton fans out there. Disney is making a MOVIE! Filmed on stage. With the original cast. I. CAN’T. WAIT. Unfortunately, it will require a bit of a wait as it’s not coming out until October 2021. I haven’t listened to the soundtrack in a while and this inspired me to start playing it again and, naturally, it’s even better than I remembered.

TWO // Rothy’s Mary-Jane Style

I don’t own a pair of Rothy’s (yet), but I’ve considered replacing my almost-falling-apart Supergas with their white slip-on when the time comes. I saw that they released a mary-jane version of their ballet flat though and it was an instant order. I ended up ordering four pairs (two sizes in two colors) to see what I like most in person– and to figure out what size feels the best. Fingers crossed one of them works out.

THREE // Going Inside the Little Women March Family’s Home

If you can’t tell, I’m still not over the latest Little Women. I pre-ordered the movie on iTunes and I seriously can’t wait to watch it all the time. In the meantime, I’ve been deep-diving on all things Little Women still. This video of the making of the March family house is so eye-opening. I’ll never watch the film in the same way– love all the thought that went into every single detail to bring it to life.

FOUR // Life in a Doll House

Another rabbit hole I went down is decorating dollhouses. This is apparently trending and, wow, these are not the dollhouses of your childhood! This dollhouse designer is THIRTEEN. The things she creates are legitimate works of art. They’re so realistic that at first I thought I was looking at a tilt-shift photo.

FIVE // Jerry Harris at the Oscar’s

Ellen asked Jerry (from Netflix’s Cheer) to interview celebrities along the red carpet. The best part is how many celebrities were geeking out to meet JERRY! The world needs more Jerry energy. So much positivity!!

Carly-
I have several pairs of Rothy’s loafers. I am a teacher on my feet all day. I love them!! You may need to go up 1/2 size. You are going to love them! The solid black and navy loafers go with everything and the animal prints- adorable!!

That’s how I found this girl’s account– she did all the furniture (like the kitchen!!!) for it!

Hi Carly! Thanks for sharing those Rothys! I feel like I am in the minority and don’t like the style of the regular version at all, but I find these so cute and an easier way for me to try out the brand. Thanks! Also, I wanted to add that checking your blog is one of the first things I do every morning, and your consistency in posting always brightens my day! I hope you have a great weekend.

You’re going to love the Mary Janes! I picked them up on Tuesday at the Boston store and they are my favorite Rothys yet!

Hi Carly! If you loved Little Women, you should totally try Anne With an E on netflix. I scrolled past for years (haha) but watched all three seasons last month and LOVED IT. One of my new favorite shows now!

I’ve been looking for a good pair of comfy mary janes, esp for my ribbed mini dresses! I haven’t tried Rothy’s yet but all my friends are obsessed with them. Thanks for sharing! 🙂 x

PROBABLY not what you thought you would be asked about, but can you talk about this permanent retainer…

I had Invisalign a few years ago and have to put in the plastic retainers every night AND I HATE IT. The dentist initially mentioned the prospect of a permanent retainer and I didn’t want anything to do with it, but maybe they’re not so bad?

Don’t do it! Apparently orthodontists don’t even do them anymore because they can break so easily. Mine is “compromised” now and is slightly shifting which means my teeth will constantly shift (wherever the retainer takes them lol). I’m switching to an Invisalign retainer to fix the latest shift and then to wear at night instead!!

I love that you’re hopping on the Rothys train! I have the sneaker and it’s one of the most comfortable shoes I own. I don’t wear flats really but those Mary Jane’s are adorable.

Carly, I am just catching up on your recent posts, so I am a little late to the game. However, I must tell you that I IMMEDIATELY thought of you when I saw the Mary-Jane line from Rothy’s. They’re so you!! They remind me of the tartan pair that J.Crew or maybe Talbots? released this past Christmas. Love this post!!
