ON MY RADAR 5.3.24

We’ve had such a nice week here! Agreeable weather meant lots of time outside. (Mike has put in some good work in getting our backyard “ready” for the summer season– so I’m really looking forward to that.) Also, Rory is starting to “wake up” from the newborn stage and I’m at the very end of my fourth trimester, which is a relief all around. Just overall feeling happy and content.

Here’s what has been on my radar this week:

ONE // Dolls of Our Lives Reflection

After fives years, a podcast I absolutely loved is going into retirement! Originally known as American Girls Podcast and rebranded to Dolls of Our Lives, I loved getting to know the co-hosts and learning more about history and just listening to discussions about American Girls. Mary has a Substack and mentioned me in her reflection for the podcast, which was such an honor 🤍 Excited to keep up!

TWO // J. Crew’s New Arrivals

J. Crew’s Pre-Summer collection is so freaking good. I had a really hard time narrowing down what to order, which is a fun “problem” to have. I’m absolutely loving all the pops of red! I’ve been trying to wear a lot more red, so this collection couldn’t have come at a better time for me. Three of my top faves: this crocheted lady jacket, a cropped cashmere polo, and a linen button up dress.

THREE // Claire Recreates Drumsticks

Claire Saffitz brought back her infamous Youtube series “Claire Recreates.” If you’ve been following her from her Bon Appetit days, you probably miss the series just as much as I do. I was thrilled to see that she’s doing it again on her own channel– it really was such good, original content. As one commenter put it, “the world is healing” having the series back. She kicked it off by recreating Drumsticks, which were one of our go-to summertime treats as kids. (We always ate them on pool days!)

FOUR // Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad

Immediately saved this chicken caesar pasta salad recipe. Going to see if Mike can make it for us ASAP. It sounds and looks delicious. I have been on a major caesar salad kick lately… my favorite “girl lunch” is a caesar salad, fries, and a Diet Coke.

FIVE // Tuckernuck x Stitch Golf

Golf isn’t really my thing, but I may need to get back on the course now that Tuckernuck has a fun golf bag collab! It’s so cute. (Would make a great Mother’s Day gift, too, for the golfers in your life!) The way I immediately wanted to sign up for lessons again after seeing this bag. 🤣

I love your posts!
Q – do you know the brand of your outdoor furniture? I’m in the market, and yours looks stylish but also weather-proof!

We went with Polywood!! So far, we are loving it and I’ve been so impressed with their customer service. Our first order had a small issue and they sent out a replacement immediately!

Hate to leave a huge comment, but if you like Drumsticks/Nutty Buddies, here’s a quick and dirty low-effort dessert “recipe”. Clean and healthy it is not, but it is a favorite for outdoor summer meals:

Ice cream sandwiches
Hot fudge sauce in a jar (not chocolate sauce, the thick fudge type)
Cool Whip, thawed in refrigerator so spreadable
Chopped dry-roasted peanuts
8” x 8” or 9” x 13” dish
(if you’re using the larger size pan, you will likely need 2 boxes of ice cream sandwiches, two containers of Cool Whip, and two jars of fudge sauce)

– Unwrap ice cream sandwiches and layer in bottom of pan, cutting them to fit
– Spread with a thick layer of fudge sauce (room temperature; do not heat sauce)
– Spread with a thick layer of Cool Whip
– Sprinkle with a layer of chopped peanuts
– Freeze for about 30 minutes
– Repeat layers in order (ice cream sandwiches, fudge sauce, Cool Whip, peanuts)
– Freeze at least 4 hours or overnight
– Cut into squares and serve
