On My Radar

This week was such a blur. I had some big changes happening this week and a lot was outside of my comfort zone. Giving feedback and making tough decisions is never easy, but it has to be done. I’ve been putting a lot off and finally had to rip it off like a bandaid. I do feel better, but sheesh! is that hard.
Luckily I had a lot of great and positive things to keep me distracted in part but also happy. I got the NEW stickers for my upcoming rebrand/website launch. We don’t have a date set just yet because we’re working on migrating seven years worth of content and links over and it’s a process to say the least. I’ll definitely be keeping everyone posted on when to expect that, but I will probably be giving little teasers and sneak peeks on Snapchat in the meantime.
I also got eyelash extensions (will post more on that soon!), hosted a little girls’ night in with Kate Spade, walked in a fashion show for our scuba diving friend, voted in the primary, and now I’m in Florida for a short family vacation! Not a bad week when you add all that up!

Here’s what’s on my radar this week:

ONE // 1/4 Zip Striped Pullover

I’m in full blown summer mode. It’s not even summer but it’s all I can think about. Everywhere we go, I comment on how happy I am that the trees are green again. Unfortunately, the weather hasn’t completely gotten on board. We’ve had some gorgeous days, but it’s still chilly more often than not. And nights and mornings are especially cool. How perfect does this 1/4 zip pullover look? It has a summery look while still being appropriate for those cooler temps. I love all the color combinations and can’t pick a favorite! (Oh, and it’s under $40!)

TWO // Moose Winans

I’m such a bad photographer. The worst really. All the buttons and options intimidate me and I can never recreate the vision I’m really trying to go for. However, I found Moose Winans’ Youtube channel and it’s amazing for photography basics. Like, actual, easy to follow instructions on taking better photos. Highly recommend!!!!

THREE // Student Pays Grandparents’ Mortgage

LOVE this story. Stefun Darts, a 24 year old college student, helped his grandparents pay off their mortgage. He really dedicated himself to this and made all sorts of sacrifices to make it happen. Good for him!!! What a thoughtful guy.

FOUR // Scalloped Dress

My J. Crew scalloped dress is one of my favorites, but it’s unfortunately not being sold anymore. I did, however, find a super cute alternative that looks super similar! Had to share with you guys since I get emails/comments about it a lot!

FIVE // #MoreThanMean

I cried while watching this video of guys reading mean comments about female sports reporters. It’s uncomfortable to watch at times but has a really important message.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

xoxo

On My Radar

This month absolutely flew by. I was wondering why all this Valentine’s Day decor was popping up in stores (aka Target) and then I realized February is next week. Actually kind of excited.
Garrett and I are meeting up with our friends in Vermont today for a weekend of skiing. We went up to Okemo last year and we opted for Killington this time around! I am pumped!
Love Crunch // Listaholic (c/o) // Pencils // Phone Case (c/o) // Glasses
On my radar this week….
Mattel has launched an entirely new Barbie. In fact, it’s not just one new Barbie, it’s three different bodies: petite, tall, and curvy. With all the new combinations of skin color and hair type, there’s a doll for just about everyone. To be completely honest, when I read about it in the morning, I thought it was a gimmick to sell more doll clothes and accessories. (Now the dolls aren’t the same size, not even their feet are the same size. More clothes. More shoes. Profit, profit, profit.) BUT, then I watched the video embedded in this post from Time and changed my mind. I think they do have their profitability in mind, but they really took the time to create a great product after listening to consumers’ opinion. Hearing the different people within the company sharing the process was really interesting. (Makes me want to go work for Mattel even more… they even own American Girls now!)

I saw this office makeover and immediately fell in love. It’s chic yet comfortable. Fancy yet friendly. And classic yet contemporary. I could move right in. For such a small room, they really packed in a lot of style!!!

THREE // An Igloo on Airbnb

Literally, only in Brooklyn could this happen. Someone built a pretty legit looking igloo and even “furnished” it (there were lights) and then listed it on Airbnb for rental. Of course, it was wiped from the site for not being up to their standards– you know, something about an ice roof just didn’t cut it… but it’s still hilarious!

FOUR // Best Coffee Shops to Work In

I filmed this video for Travel Savvy TV back in September and it’s finally up! Check it out to hear about my favorite coffee shops around the city to work in.

FIVE // Telluride Avalanche Dogs

What an amazing video! These gorgeous and sweet dogs are trained to assist in avalanche rescue operations. The video explains and shows how they learn to rescue after an avalanche… and there’s also a lot of cute footage of the dogs going up on the chair lifts!

Any fun weekend plans?

Ok that igloo is seriously the coolest thing ever! I'm headed to the MKE art museum for the first time in several years and am excited to check it off my 2016 bucket list 🙂

On My Radar

This week disappeared from me. After the amazing Alaska trip, I’ve just been trying to play catch up with work, digging myself out of a huge mound of laundry, and trying to get back into my normal routine. But of course, in true “crazy week” fashion, I flew down to Atlanta for a super quick trip to meet with the Southern Proper team. After flying to Seattle and then a red eye to NYC earlier this week followed by back to back flights the past two days, I’m just ready to stay put for a bit!

On my radar this week…

ONE // “Just Breathe”

Such a sweet little video for Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls. I loved the way that insightful little girl described her brain as a jar full of glitter when she’s mad. Pretty spot on, don’t you think. And it’s a good message over all for anyone of any age: Just breathe.

TWO // Skincare Tips from Cara Delevingne’s Esthetician

I have always struggled with skin issues and I really read a lot about how to get better skin… this is one of the best articles I’ve read. For some reason it resonated with me! The tips seemed different than most “magic potion” articles and more tangible than the boring “don’t pop” articles. I feel like there’s some great takeaways for better skin.

THREE // Bestie Row

Building a row of houses with your best friends? Like a grown up dorm mixed with a cozy neighborhood. Who’s with me on this one?! Seems like such a dream life. I love it.

FOUR // Lilly Skort

I’m not a huge fan of skorts, but I think I found the CUTEST one ever. Swoon!! I popped into the store for a hot second, just to poke around and walked out with the skirt. It fits perfectly and very true to size. I’m thinking that it’s going to be a major player in my summer wardrobe!

FIVE // Cute Puppy Video

Is it a great Friday if you don’t watch a cute video of a puppy? I didn’t think so! This one is particularly sweet and adorable. Smiles for days.

Loved the article by Cara Delevingne's esthetician. Definitely going to use some of her tips. You're totally right too! This article wasn't about products to buy or not popping, it's more about taking care of yourself. I think eating right and drinking water are some of the most important "beauty tips" you can ever follow.

On My Radar

Another great week for the record books. Actually, my last full week as a 24 year old! Some notable moments: brunch with friends from college, meeting new friends (Buggy!), puppy playdates, catching up with Alex from Persifor and meeting her beautiful new baby girl, lobster rolls with Julia before she moves, interviewing a seriously awesome high school senior, and celebrating Jessica’s birthday! Yep, I’d say that’s a my-cup-runneth-over kind of week.
Today I’m getting a week-long loaner car from GM and I can’t tell you how excited I am to have a set of wheels. The first stop on my list may or may not be Target to shop like a regular person for once. And! I also can’t wait to visit Howie and Jana (and Lilly!). Garrett and I just love them. I can’t think of a better way to spend Labor Day.
On my radar this week…
ONE // “Why Hello” Print

I saw this print on Pinterest and fell in love. How incredible is that?! I love the oversized frame, but you can get it in smaller versions as well. The “Why Hello” is one of my favorites from the Etsy shop, but there are so many other cute ones. No really, everything is too cute. (Love this one too!)

TWO // The Flying Squirrel

This little girl is cool. You have to watch the video. I was in complete awe of her natural ability on that surfboard (and skateboard). She’s only six!!! It’s abundantly clear while watching that this is one special girl with an incredible gift. Oh, and she’s on Instagram.

THREE // The Brownstone Babe

Okay, so this is a followup from last week’s On My Radar. You may recall that I featured Taylor’s gorgeous Brooklyn brownstone apartment. Well… I find the before and after photos. Guys. It’s unreal what she accomplished. I mean, her apartment is gorgeous… but you have to see how it started. I’m really jealous that Taylor has that kind of vision. Full disclosure: I would have run away as fast as I could. Seeing what she was able to do inspired me to consider doing some tiny upgrades!

FOUR // Burning Man

Have you heard of Burning Man? It’s a week-long experience in the middle of the desert. You bring everything you want/need for a week and leave nothing behind. It’s high on culture (think: modern day Woodstock), but it’s been experiencing some major changes over the past few years. Some of my friends have gone in the past and the pictures always look… different. (Furry boots, skimpy outfits, fairy wings, interesting stuff.) Garrett and I recently watched Spark: A Burning Man Story on Netflix. The documentary doesn’t have a totally tied-together story, but it’s an interesting watch. It’s also interesting to following up the documentary with the recent press Burning Man has been receiving… Like this NY Times article. Times are a-changing!

FIVE // The Office

Can you believe that I’ve never seen The Office? In high school, my government teacher would let us watch a few episodes after we took the AP exam, but other than that, I was totally in the dark. I think you can totally watch random episodes and find it hilarious, however, watching the entire series really is the way to go. The show is nothing short of genius. The whole time I watch… I can’t help but wonder how they get through scenes without cracking up. The blooper reels are just as great as the episodes themselves!!! Anyone else a fan of the show?

What’s been on your radar this week? Any fun Labor Day weekend plans?
