Versatile Slip Dress

I am OBSESSED with this slip dress. I was kind of intimidated with wearing one because I feared I wasn’t cool enough. However, when I received this one I realized just how versatile this is and it can work with all kinds of personal style. I’ve seen it online with a white button up underneath, nude stilettos, and a branded belt cinched at the waist (hence my intimidation!)… but it also works for me and how I’d want to wear it.

I took a style cue from my friend Blair and went tossed a stipe shirt on top. At home, I also tried the shirt over the dress with a knot to crop it tight against my waist and also tied at the waist like a sweatshirt with sneaks. I loved how all three options looked completely different, with the same core items.

Preppy Slip Dress

Since the dress is not really silk, it actually wears so well. Silk can be finicky and wrinkles easily. I love that I don’t have to treat it with kid gloves while wearing it. (It also allows the dress to be uber affordable at under $30!)

I skipped a bra and went with nipple covers instead.

I felt the same way about some cropped, wide-leg pants. I first felt like they were too “cool” for me, or like I was not trendy enough for them. But, I thought they were so cute, and bought them! I have LOVED them, and have been able to style them for my style, obvi with a striped shirt too!!
I love this look on you, Carly!! You are rocking it well!! I can only imagine all of the styling possibilities 🙂

I wish you would have included styling photos for the other 2 ways in which you tried the dress at home (w/ sneaks, or shirt worn over top). Since you mentioned them, would have been nice to see! Would also be cute dressed up with heels, loose waves and a red lip for date/evening look.

This dress, and every slip dress I see, kind of reminds me of the dress from the Parent Trap. The one Martin tells the mom she should wear when she sees her ex husband for the first time. Love it!
