WHAT I READ IN NOVEMBER 2024

Despite November being my absolute craziest month of work, I got some good reading in. Lots of reading in the mornings before the boys woke up, listening to audiobooks, and reading on the treadmill! Some good recommendations, too! Not the best month of reading overall, but a solid one and we’ll take it!

intermezzo by sally rooney on kindle

I FEEL BAD ABOUT MY NECK by Nora Ephron

4/5 Stars

This is a QUICK read. I needed it. I listened to the audiobook when I just needed a light read that I could kind of escape from the craziness and it was perfect. It’s just a compilation of short little stories that are laugh out loud funny. It felt relatable as a woman who is getting older every day and I’m sure as I get older it’ll be even more relatable to reread it.

PARIS by Paris Hilton

4/5 Stars

Someone recommended Paris Hilton’s memoir and I was intrigued. This is a super fascinating memoir and I have to say that I was impressed by how clearly you can hear Paris’ voice throughout. I knew some of Paris Hilton’s story from social media and recent news, but her book really goes deep. It’s pretty dark at times and covers some intense topics (so maybe check for content warnings if that might be an issue). I really enjoyed it!

THE PARIS NOVEL by Ruth Reichl

3/5 Stars

Ruth Reichl’s books have been some of my all time favorites. Her memoir Save Me the Plums is one of my very favorites. I was excited to read The Paris Novel by her and it was cute and a light read, but I just couldn’t exactly get excited about it. I think I just didn’t feel invested in the story? If you’re looking for a light read about Paris with wonderful descriptions of food and you’re not terribly concerned about plot though, you might still really enjoy this read!

INTERMEZZO by Sally Rooney

3/5 Stars

love Sally Rooney’s Normal People and was really looking forward to Intermezzo. It’s about two brothers who couldn’t be more different but are both grieving the loss of their father and managing their love lives. I was into it in the beginning (I connected much more to Ivan’s storyline than Peter’s) and then I wasn’t into it at all (I almost DNF’d) and then I found the ending to be pretty redeeming. But overall not my favorite.

THE BODYGUARD by Katherine Center

4/5 Stars

Okay. You guys know I normally struggle through Rom-Coms (yet keep trying 🤣). This one is SO CUTE. A little cheesy but the characters felt pretty real too. I was very into it and really fell in love with the characters. It’s about a female bodyguard whose current client is a movie star… but she has to pretend to be his girlfriend so as not to worry his family. It’s sweet and cute and a nice read. Would be perfect to pick up during winter break if you want a nice escape.

I love all of Katherine Center’s books! I find they are fun, cute, but all have some depth. Glad you enjoyed it. I always recommended Katherine Center to others so kind of glad a semi-picky reader like yourself like it!

You may also enjoy The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center as The Bodyguard characters make a brief cameo 🙂
