5 Dishes to Cook to Combat the Winter Blues

When it’s really cold out, I hate having to go outside at night. Once I’m in the night, I like to cozy up in comfortable clothes and watch movies or binge watch a TV show. We’ve been doing a lot of Hygge meals and it makes the cold nights that much more enjoyable. Soups, slow roasted meats, and really anything else that will warm us up!

5 Dishes to Cook to Combat the Winter Blues

Guest post by Louisa from Living Lou

This is the time of the year when I hit the point where I’m just over winter. Are you with me too? We’ve had so many storms in Toronto in the last couple of weeks that I feel like we must have hit our winter quota by now, now?

So, what do we cook when the winter blues hit? Here are the five recipes I’ll be making on repeat.

1. Flank steak fajitas

  1. Honestly, when I’m feeling like I need a taste of summer, that’s what I do. Cook something that reminds me of the summer! I love to make these steak fajitas with pineapple salsa.
  2.
  3. 2. Macaroni and Cheese
  4.
  5. No joke, this is what I make when I’m feeling like I need a bit of comfort food. I love this because it has broccoli in it so you feel a little healthier. Plus generally speaking, pasta is just my go-to comfort food.
  6.
  7. 3. Tortellini Soup
  8.
  9. This is the easiest and most comforting soup–it has pasta (see number 2) and is a soup. Sign me up! Plus my mom used to make this for me when I was growing up so I think it has a bit of that nostalgia factor.
  10.
  11. 4. Nachos
  12.
  13. Whenever I’m having a bad day, I just end up craving nachos. It’s something I have learned about myself over the years and I’m 100% ok about it.
  14.
  15. 5. Roast Chicken
  16.
  17. My mom is from London, so roast chicken was something that I ate every single weekend when I was growing up. I have such a soft spot for a roast chicken–it always reminds me of home. This one is marinated in buttermilk and it’s incredible.
