On My Radar

Garrett, Teddy, and I are heading to the Catskills for a little weekend in the woods today. We found the cutest converted one room schoolhouse to rent. It looks like it’s going to be a chilly weekend which I’m really excited for. I can’t wait to bundle up, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. (I think Teddy may end up having the most fun of all of us.)

A little bit sad to be missing the Head of the Charles regatta this weekend, but I did have some fun going through old photos from the last time I went! This was yesterday’s #tbt on Instagram:

On my radar…
I’m really proud of my good friend Jess for creating a clothing line with Evine. Not only are the clothes super cute and affordable, but she’s going to be selling the collection on LIVE TV. It will be airing tonight at 8pm EST and tomorrow at 10am EST, here’s how to find the channel. That alone deserves a major round of applause. I know she’s been practicing a ton so… Break a leg, Jess!
A reader left a link to Nancy Myers’ Pinterest board on the post where I talked about wanting to cut my hair like Anne Hathaway in The Intern. This is so cool… you can see the inspiration the director had behind the characters and branding of the movie. You can see what she envisioned for ATF’s branding, the office, the characters (including the cutest little Paige!). I wish we had access like this to all movie inspiration; it’s awesome!
I’m not a big fan of holiday decorations, but candles I can do. I’ve been lighting a candle in the kitchen to burn while I work all day. We had a great huge apple pumpkin one and after it was done we switched to a plain pumpkin. I didn’t think it had a strong enough scent so I started researching for the best pumpkin candles out there… all signs pointed to this candle by Nest Fragrances. IT REALLY IS THE BEST! Oh my…. it’s wonderful! I think I’m going to need to burn this right through Thanksgiving. (Then I’m switching to the holiday candle, which I actually keep a tiny one of on my nightstand because I love it.)
FOUR // Officer Nolan
If this isn’t the sweetest thing on the Internet right now, I don’t know what is. I saw this absolutely heartwarming note an eight year old wrote for his favorite police officer, including some “coffay moni$” taped to the note. I couldn’t stop smiling as I read and I think it’s such a testament to the impact a person can have on a child’s life by doing something as simple as reading and being there!
Let’s just say, I’ve never wanted to chew Extra gum more than I do right now… This is good great marketing.

Any fun weekend plans or something that caught your attention online this week?

On My Radar

This week was a chilly one! My space heater was my saving grace… I kept that thing running and running high while I worked. I mostly caught up on work and got a few things situated for tax season (blah!)… but it was my yoga classes that really stood out this week! I can’t thank you all enough for the kind and thoughtful comments and emails on my posts from Wednesday. (Hearing that other people had the same concerns that I had made me feel so much less alone!)
I have a quite a few things that I loved from the internet this week, so let’s dive right in:

Enjoying the Small Things is one of my favorite blogs. Anyone who knows me knows I love a good mom blog… but I actually enjoy ETST because I think she’s an incredible writer, not just for her adorable kids. If you’re a writer or dream of being of a writer, this is a MUST READ.
TWO // Maroon 5’s Latest Video

Holy cow, this is an incredible music video. To be honest, I’m not sure I’d want a band crashing my wedding… but I’d totally be down to being a guest at a wedding where Maroon 5 showed up! Not only is the video stunning, the song is super catchy. I found myself humming the song all day.

THREE // Rare photos of the Romanov family

Okay, not sure how many other people will find this interesting, but I used to be obsessed with Anastasia. I bought a book about her during a fourth grade book fair and my friend Amelia and I used to pore over the pages and all the pictures. Remember, this was pre-internet… that book literally did not have enough information for us. We were desperate for more about Anastasia and her family, so much so that we would make up stories. These photos would make my nine year old self the happiest! (Omg, I found the book online…)

FOUR // 36 Questions that Lead to Love

There was a NY Times article that was circulating, well, everywhere claiming that you could follow the steps and fall in love with anyone The steps were 36 questions that Dr. Arthur Aron came up with that get more and more personal as you go. The girl in the original article tried it with a stranger in a bar… and it worked. Would you be brave enough to give it a go?

FIVE // 79 Most Popular People on Instagram

Full disclosure: I love Kim Kardashian. Were you surprised by any on the list? Who’s your favorite celebrity to follow?

SIX // Desktop Organizer

This is the most BRILLIANT thing I’ve ever seen. My only complaint? Why didn’t I think of this?!?! A reader sent it to me because she thought I’d enjoy it and she totally was right! You can pick and choose the template design and find the right size download for your desktop size.

SEVEN // Sophia Grace “Best Friends” Video

Sophia Grace is totally the cutest. Even Garrett was singing along to this song after watching the video with me. (Pretty sure he saw it before me too ha!) A catchy way to end the post!

Anything great on your radar this week?

I loved the Maroon 5 video too!! Also, my friends and I have been talking about the NY Times article all week and we really want to test it out to see if it works. The Golden Globes was definitely on my radar this week! Award season is my favorite.

I love that you shared all this! I loved the pictures of the Romanov's too. I would always buy those princess diary books at the book fairs. Anastasia and Elizabeth I were my absolute favorites! That Maroon 5 video is also so incredibly cute.

I was obsessed with Anastasia too! The entire Romanov family fascinated me. I even did a report on Rasputin for a history class a couple years ago for a class. It was also interesting to see the most popular people on Instagram. My favorite celebrity that I follow is Lauren Conrad. I love the businesswoman she has become, and think she embodies effortless beauty and class!

Loved the 36 questions NYT article! However if you read the original article, she did already know the guy she tried it on in the bar… so I don't know if that really counts!

On My Radar

I had such a great week… hope you all did too! Working from home is something I’m constantly getting used to. Some days are better than others, but overall it’s working for me. The best part is being able to set my own schedule. I definitely have the tendency to work all the time, but I’ve been taking a couple of hours every afternoon off.
On Monday afternoon, Garrett and I had lunch and walked to the Met where we spent the afternoon. It was such a perfect way to spend the day and I felt totally inspired to get work done for the remainder of the day. I think we’re going to try to go to more museums on Monday!
And my favorite ever kind of break? Taking Teddy to the dog park. It’s super wonderful to walk him every day. (One long walk and plenty of short walks/adventures during the day.) But the dog park is something I seriously look forward to. If I know the ground won’t be wet (he’s particular about puddles), the dog park is at the top of my to-do list for breaks. I could legitimately spend HOURS watching Teddy and the other dogs play. It’s insanely fun. With his leg completely healed (#hallelujah), he’s 100% himself again and totally into playtime. Eight month old puppies sure do have tons of energy!
Garrett and I both love it! (Photo borrowed from G’s Instagram.)
Now that the weather is nice, I swear I’ve been enjoying my days so much more. More light, fewer layers, and lots of activities. YES TO EVERYTHING.
Now… onto what’s on my radar!
ONE // Eataly’s Nutella Bar

The rumors are true! Eataly just opened up a Nutella bar and it looks like heaven on earth. Eataly is one of my favorite city spots, just steps away from the Flatiron building. I didn’t think it could get better, but Nutella? Absolutely can’t beat that one! Garrett and I found ourselves having pizza (of course) in Eataly the other night. We decided to check out the Nutella bar. Sadly it was packed, but I confirm that it exists and is in full swing! Can’t wait to try it myself.

I was really looking forward to being in one place for a while, but of course the wanderlust has a way of settling into my system again. Can we discuss how perfect these monogrammed passport covers from Logan Real are? I mean… that pink one is basically is basically begging to be taken to Paris, right?

THREE // Sia “Chandelier” Video

A friend who knows my obsession with Dance Moms sent this to me. At first I had NO idea that it was Maddie! I’ve always kind of leaned towards #teamchloe, but Maddie is clearly a talented little performer. It’s a disturbing (in a good way?) video and Maddie pretty much nails it. It’s also interesting to see how the Dance Moms girls will leverage the show’s success for the rest of their careers!
FOUR // HARRY POTTER

You know I’m the biggest, late to the game, Harry Potter fan. I went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter a few years ago and loved it. Just read that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint are getting together for “one last adventure” to film scenes for the new section of the theme park. Florida… here I come.

FIVE // Blind Keller Plays Fetch

And to round out today… talk about adorable and inspiring… A blind dog killing it at fetch. The determination this dog has is just amazing and sweet. Love it.
What’s on your radar this week? What’s your favorite kind of “break” from work?

Ooh, I heard about that Nutella bar but seeing the picture makes me want to visit ASAP! I can only imagine how packed it will be though. Nice meeting you at the Jonathan Adler/Bright Bazaar event! Have a great weekend 🙂

I feel like I would go stir crazy working from home. For some reason I tend to lose my focus around all of my favorite things. You seem to have balanced it out perfectly, though – good for you! Also, teddy is the sweetest. I just want to hug him 🙂 Have a great weekend!
