I cannot believe Christmas is at the end of this week!!! After such a crazy year, I have very little sense of time anymore. Especially right now while we’re basically back down to early-pandemic safety protocols– the days are blending together. Despite it being a different season of celebration, I’m still really looking forward to it! I keep reminding myself that it’s our first “married Christmas” and to try to soak it up for everything that it is. (I’m sure decades from now we’ll think about how crazy our first married Christmas was!)
I have a couple more things to wrap, but all the gifts I needed to get have been accounted for. But… Did you put off a few gifts until the last minute? It’s fine, don’t worry, I’ve been there! Last-minute gifts don’t have to mean generic. There’s still plenty of ideas you can do that still show you thought about them! Because shipping delays are an issue this year (thank you all delivery people who are working in overdrive this year!!!), I wouldn’t rely on any shipping (including express and Amazon Prime) really at all.
5 LAST MINUTE GIFT IDEAS:
DONATION IN THEIR NAME
This is actually what I requested anytime someone asked me what I wanted this year. Frankly, I have absolutely everything I need and want (and more). Since I’ve been so appreciative of my time volunteering at our food bank, I’ve asked that if anyone was planning on buying me anything to make a donation to them instead. I think this is such a great idea, especially for hard to shop for people. If your recipient has a special cause that is near and dear to their heart, consider making a donation in their name to that organization.
LIBRO.FM SUBSCRIPTION
I’m a huge fan of Libro.fm. It’s an audiobook subscription service, but instead of buying it from a giant company, it supports a local bookstore of your choice! They’re offering a few great giftable memberships at the moment. I really love their 12- month subscription; for $180, the recipient (or you if you gift to yourself 😉) gets a download every month and your bookstore of choice gets $90 as a “bonus.”
SHOP LOCAL
While shipping delays are an issue, this could be a great time to shop a local store or two for your final gifts. I know our town is doing a lot of curbside pickups (you can see their offerings on Instagram and their website), but I also think popping into a store where masks are strictly enforced is okay (personally– obviously you decide what makes you feel the safest). I am also in our local Facebook group and people are constantly sharing deals and discounts and new product offerings for the stores in town. Hot chocolate bombs seem to be the gift of the year!
FRAMEBRIDGE with PREVIEW
Framebridge has been my go-to for all things framing. I think they do an incredible job and they can honestly frame…. pretty much anything. Seriously! They really try to make all frames possible! And I know what you’re thinking, I said not to rely on shipping! Framebridge does have some quick-ship options where you can upload digital photos and they’ll ship next day. But Framebridge also offers the option of sending your recipient a “sneak peek.” One of my friends did this for me recently and it was such a surprise to get an email with the preview because she didn’t know when it would actually deliver. Really made me happy!
PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION WITH LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER
Speaking of photographs, I thought this was such a cute idea. I actually stole it from something I saw on Facebook. A Facebook friend of mine loves family photos and her husband SURPRISED HER by getting her kids into cute outfits and booking a private session with a photographer. Honestly, I thought it was brilliant and I thought the husband deserved some brownie points for that one. This could be a great gift for grandparents, cousins, your partner (especially if they know you don’t love getting photos done). And it doesn’t need to be done right away– you can book a session with a photographer for a later date as a nice surprise 🥰
So many cute and easy ideas! I love the local Facebook groups ideas or a photography session! Thanks so much for sharing!
