Apple Picking Round 2

Garrett and I drove up to Vermont yesterday to meet our friends Julia and Thomas who are on a full-fledged leaf peeping tour right now. This was the one day where we didn’t have work obligations keeping us in Connecticut, so we jumped at the chance to meet up with them for a day. (They just moved to Charleston, and we are seriously loving being in the same time zone!) They’re also with Rosie and her boyfriend, so it was the perfect opportunity to meet them as well!

Even though we checked apple picking off our fall bucket list a few weeks ago, I will never say no to apple picking. But I would say that apple picking season is winding down, if not over. After calling a bunch of orchards, we finally found one that was open and still had apples to pick. Scott Farm Orchard was gorgeous. Despite looming mist and fog, the foliage glowed in every direction you could see. Their heirloom apples also did not disappoint.

I won’t bore you to death with a ton of text for this post. I think the pictures say more than enough. (I’m obsessed!!!) But I will let you know that J. Crew brought back my FAVORITE plaid shirt. I tracked this down, after weeks of searching multiple stores, back in 2011 when I was still at Georgetown. They brought it back on J. Crew Factory, and I’m pretty sure it’s the same print.

I also, of course, chose to wear riding boots. I typically go for Hunter boots or Bean Boots when I’m going to be anywhere near a farm. The weather said it would be cloudy, but that it would clear up. 0% precipitation. Except it was drizzling for hours and the ground was soaked… Lesson learned. I still love the way the boots look with the bright red skirt though and my boots are weatherized, so it was all good.

Isn’t the detailing on this skirt to die for? I normally wouldn’t go for something so bright, but now I wonder why I didn’t have it in my closet sooner.

After picking apples, we went to another nearby orchard because we heard the apple cider doughnuts were good. I thought the mulled cider was great! And we had to get the t-shirts.

The last snap makes me miss the cider mill back home (near Kansas City). They had the best apple cider donuts….and they always came out warm! SO good.

Despite the rain the boots look AMAZING, Carly!! You can’t go wrong with Hunters, but leather boots look good with just about anything, especially plaid and red!

How did you weatherize your boots?? I just got a new pair of Tory’s and I want them to last longer than my other boots have 😅

The pictures are just stunning Carly, and I’m obsessed with your skirt! I tend to shy away from buying something so bold but when I do end up with something, I wonder what my hesitation was. That skirt will look great throughout the holiday season. I’d love to see how you style it again! xx Rox-Anne, Celebratingthislife.ca
