BABY FEEDING

I wanted to share some of our favorite go-to things for feeding Jack. We try to keep things fairly simple, both in terms of recipes and food options, and also the products we use. I registered for a few of these things and then purchased others along the way. Every baby and every family is different though. Sometimes you don’t know what’s going to work until you’re in the thick of it.

Anyway, here’s what’s been working for us.

STASHER BAGS // SMOCKS // TRAVEL CHAIR

MEAL PREP CONTAINERS // SNACK CATCHERS // TRAINING CUP // SILICONE BIBS

HIGH CHAIR (25% off right now!) // WEIGHTED STRAW // 360 TRAINER CUP

FORK & SPOON // MINI MAT

I thought this would be more informational rather than affiliate links to utensils that work for you. I’m a speech-language pathologist and about half of my clinical work is pediatric feeding and swallowing, the other being complex communication needs of kids with traumatic brain injury. I vaguely remember you posting that your son was going to some music class (or something similar?) led by an SLP. Maybe you should ask for some professional input/feature if you’re going to make a blog post about it? Just a thought!

This is what has worked for us, but of course if someone has a concern or wants specific help they should absolutely seek OT with a feeding specialist.

No I know what they’re saying. I try to be really careful about sharing what has personally worked for us vs. sharing expert advice. I’m not an expert and I don’t pretend to be! If someone wants personalized help with their child, I would recommend that person seek out professional help. This is just what has worked for us.

It just seems disingenuous/misleading to make a post about baby feeding and it’s just affiliate links. I’m not asking *you* to share professional advice, but to use your platform to invite professionals (that you work with already) to make something informative. That would actually be interesting to read! I dont care what utensils have worked for an influencer’s kid, it just feels lazy.

My blog is always sharing personal recommendations, not an educational blog. My Saturday posts always alternate between diary posts and collages with links, like today. It’s an easy way for me to gather our personal recommendations in one place when people ask, and makes it easily searchable.

I also have a history of all your troll/gomi comments too so it’s hard to take your “feedback” seriously. Just sharing my perspective.

First of all, Mila, been reading this blog a long time and fyi, it has never been an OT blog. As you are seemingly in that profession, I also didn’t see the link you shared in your “concerned “ comment to *your* blog with recommendations on *your* professional help on the subject. In that light, your comment absolutely comes across as more snark than any kind of effort to help little ones who suffer from issues.

I love that little chair! They didn’t have that when my son was a baby, and I remember the versions they did make were terrible. I’m sure that one is a lifesaver! 🙂

Hi Carly! Thanks for sharing this 🙂 I am looking to make a little pick me up basket for a friend with a babe the same age as yours and this is so helpful to my child-free self! Its great to know what normal moms are using day to day when I literally have zero clue where to even start.

I, for one, appreciate the round-up and don’t come to your website expecting to see experts’ recommendations. You’re always very clear that these recs are just what’s worked for you/Jack. Thank you!
