Cold Weather

Back to Black

This outfit is one that was not planned. Maybe my shopping problem is from laziness… I look at my closet and think, “Yep, nothing to wear. Must shop.” When, in fact, I have some great pieces that I can rework into new outfits. Old clothes, new looks. Real confession: part of this is that my closet has been an absolute bear to keep organized, so sometimes I forget what I have. (I wish someone would legitimately invent that computer program Cher had in Clueless.)
With cold days turning into warm(ish) spring days, I want to take advantage of my favorite dresses, but not totally freeze. A favorite tuxedo shirt and a LBD (scalloped, of course) jumped out at me one day! I thought I was going to go in a totally different direction, but the simplicity of the black and white absolutely won me over.
Add my go-to spring jacket (#classictrench) and a pair of bow-back heels and it’s a super easy, chic outfit.

Anyone else have “closet full of clothes, nothing to wear” moments? Have you pulled together an unexpected outfit you ended up loving?

xoxo

I am so in love with your shoes! The bows on the back of them are seriously adorable. I've never been a huge fan of scallops, I think they look weird on me. But a girl can never have enough bows in their life!

Love the post 😀

I love this! I especially like the idea of transitioning your favorite pieces for any season. Those shoes are amazing.

This is so classic and youthful! I have thought many times that I want to take pictures of all of my clothes and make a Cher computer closet!!! Sometimes I put together unexpected outfits, but it's been a while. I've gotten so bored lately with my clothes that I need to take some time to mix it up (instead of shopping).

There's an app for that! It's called Stylebook. You take pictures of
Individual items in your closet and categorize them and then you can pretend your Cher looking for her white collarless shirt from Fred Segal!

I struggle with this every single day. I'll go out, buy a new top and wear it once a week for months, then go out and buy another one, and the cycle goes on. So then my closet just becomes a bunch of old clothes I've over done and I never want to wear them. Sigh.

I am ALWAYS getting that "nothing to wear, must shop feeling"!! Actually had it earlier today! One of my favorite parts of the day is checking your blog and all the fun things you post- keep up the great work Carly! Hopefully I'll see you at a meet & greet someday! 🙂

Oh man, I wish I could rock the button-up-under-dress look, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. When I saw your comment about a Clueless-esque computer program, I immediately thought of the app Stylitics. It’s a bit time-consuming at first, since you have to photograph all your clothes, shoes, and bags, but in my opinion, it’s totally worth it! You can put together outfits on your phone and schedule a date on the built-in calendar on which to wear them. I promise this isn’t a sponsored comment; I just really love this app! And it’s free! I think you should try it out:)

Hey Carly! I know that you mentioned that you wished that they had an invention like the closet computer that Cher had in Clueless, there actually is something similar to it! It's an app called WiShi. You take pictures of the clothes in your closet, upload it to the app for your virtual closet, and people from around the world can put outfits together for you! It's pretty fun and kind of addictive since you can put together a bunch of different outfits for other people!
