College Prepster Book Club | Firefly Lane

I’ve been really, really enjoying my reading time lately. I’ve finally gotten myself back into the reading groove. Now I look forward to every quiet (or even not-so-quiet) twenty minute window I can scrape together. Sitting and just being engrossed in a book is the best.
I love to read all kinds of books, but it’s not always the case to find a book that I absolutely don’t want to end. Sometimes I’m indifferent about an ending and other times I’m ready for the next read by the last few chapters. Certain books have really captured my attention, like Harry Potter, The Help, Hunger Games, The Power of One, The Age of Miracles, and Divergent. (Ugh I really tried to keep the list short, but honestly… now that I think about it, I’ve loved just too many books!)
Firefly Lane is up there. Leslie and Maxie recommended it to me and I’m so thankful that I read it.
Firefly Lane balances so many important issues in one book. I can’t even begin to describe the emotional rollercoaster (in a good way) that I went through while reading this. Friendship, family, work/life balance, careers, spouses, love, sickness (and health), ambition, mothers… daughters, lost dreams… and just about everything in between.
I can’t remember the last time a book had me so engrossed in the characters and the stories. Amazing.
What is on your reading list?

I LOVED that book! I just read it in April, it helped me get through the stressful last few weeks of college (I stayed up until 2 am reading it one night)! Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors. "The Things We Do For Love" is my favorite book by her.

This book looks great. I just finished reading two awesome books: Mrs. Kennedy and Me and Z. Mrs. Kennedy and Me is written about Jackie's secret service agent and his touching relationship with her. Z is about Zelda Fitzgerald; it really helps you understand the lifestyle you see of the rich in Gatsby.

Ah Firefly Lane sounds incredible! I just looked it up, and am 100% adding it to my reading list.

If you like books about friendships and close relationships that span a long period of time, rather than just one or two episodes in someone's life, check out my book, Aureole! It's about a girl who was taken in by a wealthy family (in NYC, by the way), and about the relationships among her and the family over her lifetime, up until she's about 23 or so.

Have a great day!

I loved that book! I just started reading Fly Away by Kristin Hannah which is like a sequial to Firefly Lane! It's really good!

Happier at Home by Renee Rudin is one on my list for the summer also!

I'm in the middle of reading this book now – even more excited to finish it now that you've recommended it!

My friend has been telling me to read this book for so long. I definitely want to try it out!!

I just read My Year with Eleanor – by Noelle Hancock. Its AMAZING and so inspiring! Its the story of a laid off NYC celebrity journalist who uses her is reevaluating her life after her job disappears. Inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt – she promises to tackle one fear every day for one year. Its a fun cross between easy summer reading and actual self help 🙂 If you're into that sort of thing!

I love Kristen Hannah! Definitely going to check this one out.
I just finished The Fault In Our Stars, by John Green. Such an incredible book, though certainly one to make you weepy. It is the first book I've read in a while that was both beautifully written–literary fiction–and with a story gripping enough to keep me reading all day.

The warning has me a little wary, but I guess the mark of a good book is when it affects you deeply so I guess that is a good thing.
