I’m reviving my Diary posts! At some point last fall, I couldn’t really keep up with weekend posts. I was still figuring out how to balance campaigns with the regular daily work. Hoping to keep these going though, because I love how it documents what we’ve been up to in a more casual way.
I don’t know exactly where to start since I’m so far behind, so I’m just going to dive in:
Sakara sent me a three day trial of their meal subscription, no strings attached. I see their ads everywhere and I have friends who have done it, but I was a little skeptical. I ended up doing three days of the breakfasts and lunches and I loved the meals. Everything tasted amazing and was shockingly filling. Because of the cost, I don’t think I’d do it every week, but it’s something I will order when I know I’ll be particularly busy and want healthy, refreshing meals on hand.
The holidays were way more stressful than I had anticipated due to various circumstances (last minute work obligations, all the illnesses, new food allergies, etc.). Mike took both boys out on an adventure one day, leaving me at home alone for two hours. I sat on the couch with a coffee and needlepoint and I fought the urge to do something productive and just needlepointed with an audiobook. Probably the best gift!
I think I’m starting to like Christmas Eve over Christmas. The anticipation, the buzz, the last minute prep! We went out to breakfast as a family and then spent the rest of the day just enjoying the holiday excitement. We joined Mike’s family for a Christmas Eve mass and then came back home to set out cookies and milk for Santa!
Many batches of chocolate chip cookies were made. While I’d love to try more recipes, I just know these chocolate chips can’t be beat!
We had some of our neighbors over for a latke party. Mike really led the charge and wow, he made the most incredible latkes. Everything was delicious and it was really just so nice to have everyone gather together. Our house was wild with so many kids running around and it was the best.
Guys, I woke up one morning a few days after Christmas with an achy wrist. Didn’t think anything of it… just kind of expected it to feel better eventually. It was getting worse by the hour though. Google led me to believe it was this thing called “mommy’s wrist” (a kind of tendonitis that’s common in moms from lifting babies….) I eventually couldn’t do anything with my hand. It was incredibly painful… I ended up getting a steroid shot (which was unpleasant to say the least) but it seems to have done the trick. Hallelujah.
I surprised Jack with tickets to see Paw Patrol Live. I had some people ask me how it was and I’ll be honest and say that it wasn’t worth the price tag, in my opinion. The performance was okay, but it was really long and there was also an intermission. Jack has a pretty good attention span for a three year old, but he was ready to leave at the intermission. (He also didn’t like how the characters were actually people, lol, “Mama? These are not the real paw patrol.”) We also went to see Moana one afternoon and that he loved! Didn’t move an inch throughout the entire movie.
Our town got a new bakery… They’re known for their chocolate cake, which is delicious, but everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious. They also serve La Colombe coffee so I love popping in for really good cup of coffee.
I am slowly but surely working my way through the house to declutter. I’m trying to not focus on organizing right now and just get all the nooks and crannies free of clutter so I can go back and properly organize. For some reason, this is making it feel way less daunting of a task. (And feels amazing to see the progress already.)
I broke down and bought an iPad to help me stay organized. I don’t quite have a perfect set up just yet and I’ll be sure to share more as I play around and tweak my system. So far, adding this screen protector makes writing with the Pencil so much more satisfying and I’m really into this digital planner so far.

I’ve been trying to get outside every day with the boys. It’s been super cold and snowy (and windy!) so we get out when we can for as long as possible. It makes a huge difference for everyone’s mental health, truly.
