Where exactly has time gone? It’s already mid-April and graduation season is fast approaching. I’ve gotten a ton of emails about high school and college graduation dresses. Thought it’d be fun to round up a few options!
My tips:
– Keep it comfortable. My high school graduation was indoors, but my college graduation was outside. Wearing the gowns can get a little warm, even if you’re not in direct sunlight! Don’t wear something too tight so you can breathe comfortably. And don’t wear something that pinches, especially since you’ll be sitting for the actual ceremony.
– Go with a classic! I wouldn’t go for something super trendy or even that bright. Similar to prom dresses, it makes sense to choose a dress that you can wear again. For a high school graduation, that means a dress you’ll be able to wear to college (maybe for rush or events on campus), and for a college graduation that means a dress you’ll be able to wear “in the real world.”
– You can’t go wrong with a little black dress or a simple white dress!

Something Fun:
I am currently a college freshman, and haven’t even been thinking of graduation. However, this is such a timely article, and I will keep all of these in the back of my mind for the big day of entering the real world!
Much love,

I love your picks, Carly! I can’t believe we’re already coming up to nearly graduation time here in the UK as well as the US! This year is truly flying by!
I hope you have a lovely day,

These are great tips! I wore an ivory all lace dress for my college graduation that I still have and still love! I never regretted it!

I was just going to email you about suggestions for college graduation dresses! My graduation is in less than a month and I need to get my dress ASAP!
So many cute options! Finding a dress that you know you can wear again is a great idea. I have worn my high school and college graduation dresses to so many events and functions over the years! Its great to have something special but I always opt for classic and versatile!

Love these – even not for graduation!
I still have my high school graduation dress even 3 years out of college! Ha! Picking something that will last you a while is definitely key.

Loving the Chetta B white off-shoulder midi dress and JCrew eyelet lace dress in warm clover! I have friends who would splurge on their prom dress, leave the tag on for the night, and return it the next day 😛 I haven’t heard of people who do that for graduation dresses though! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
Love all of these dresses, thanks for the suggestions!!

Love your picks! I wore my college graduation dress for at least a few years post-grad. 🙂 It’s always worth it to invest in classic pieces! xo Devon Seventeen Dresses
I wore a Lilly dress to my graduation and it had pockets. The pockets were the best decision I’ve ever made when choosing a dress it made my life so much easier.

Love all these! Another recommendation I would say is to wear wedges or be confident with walking in heels in grass. There was always a point where I was walking in grass! (Even in an Arizona graduation!)

Great picks Carly! I’ve been trying to figure out if I want to go the Lilly route or wear a more subdued dress for my college graduation next month.
