Remember my 25 Before 25 list? Having my palms read was on the list. (#25 actually!)
It’s something that I have seriously always wanted to do… but was always too chicken. I was paranoid that a) it would be a scam or b) I would find out that I was about to die or something terrible.
Garrett, Emily, Mackenzie, and I all went out to dinner on Friday and I really wanted to get my palms read. It was FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH. So I mean, if I’m going to get my palms read… it was the perfect time. Garrett and Emily were too spooked, but somehow I convinced Mackenzie to do it too.
We all wanted to be in the building (if you can even call it that) for each other’s readings. Of course (duh), our “energies” would get in the way though. As excited as I was to have the reading done, I got really freaked out right before we started. I tried to remain calm because I knew I would freak Mackenzie out and she would back out!
I ended up being kind of “meh” about the whole experience. I guess I was expecting it to be scarily accurate OR completely ridiculous. It was somewhere in the middle. The woman absolutely picked up on a couple of things. But for the most part, I wasn’t enthralled about the whole experience. I wish I had a SparkNotes version because I got a little bored.
(For the record, she started off by saying I had a “long and healthy life” ahead of me. #ThankGoodness. So I definitely relaxed after that!)
Then it was Mackenzie’s turn. She may or may not have a house in the suburbs with three children in her future.
Bottom line: It was such a fun thing to do on a Friday the 13th. Borderline ridiculous. But fun. And especially with friends!
Have you ever had your palms read?

Haha, sounds like an interesting experience! I've never had it done, but I definitely think I would just for fun if the opportunity came my way.
I always wanted to get it done!
There's this lady from where I grew up… apparently she's always right! Well, she's a psychic and actually helps in criminal investigations all across Canada (and the US!), free of charge of course. I'd love to check her out because of her accountability. All of the others? Not so much. But at least it was fun for you! And on Friday the 13th 😉

Glad you did it!! I've never gotten my palm read but did something similar to it and I actually enjoyed it. already something off that list girl!!
I'm not too sure if I would believe it, since I think most of what palm readers say are generalities. However, somewhere in my lifetime I can see myself taking the plunge…and ultimately being underwhelmed.
Your Friend, Jess
I so want to know what she told you!
My cousin's new girlfriend supposedly reads palms…I can't wait to meet her and harass her to tell me my future! Love that you did this on Friday the 13th!
I have gotten mine done twice and already want to go for a third. Not sure if I fully believe it or not, but I always have such fun going with friends and matching everything up together afterwards at a yummy lunch or dinner. Glad you got to try it!
Sounds like fun. I've gone to a medium before (someone who connects to the dead). It was pretty cool and I sorta believed her she knew stuff that would be impossible (like what kind of childhood dog I had). It's all for fun and perfect for the upcoming halloween months!

How fun!! I've always wanted to get my palms read, too! I've never done it though!!
K & I did get our handwriting analyzed about a month ago! We were walking along 3rd St. Promenade in Santa Monica and a handwriting analyst had a sign that said, "Twins are free!", which we loved because we're twins & something we'd been wanting to do was free!
He was actually able to notice a lot of our personality differences based off of our handwriting!! I wish we'd recorded what he said though, because it didn't all stick in my brain! 🙁

I love that you did this. I've always wanted to do something like this just for fun. I don't think you could have picked a better day to do it on.

I've always been intrigued, glad you tried it out so I could read about it! I think I'd walk away a happy customer if she started out saying I have a long and healthy life ahead of me too! 😉
I love that you did this! I've always wanted to go to a Psychic but I've been freaked so now I feel a little more comfortable with it!

I've never had my palms read, but I have had my jewelry read! My mom's friend has psychic abilities and can actually read energy off of jewelry or other metals you carry around with you (keys, watch)! It's pretty neat!

Oh no! Carly, I wanted to e-mail this to keep it private but the e-mail link seems to be broken. I'm a born and raised Manhattan girl and I hate to tell you………..you went to a brothel to have your palm read! It's a not-so-hidden secret that those "psychic" storefronts in Manhattan (as well as the many Asian "Massage" spas) are just fronts for prostitution in the back. Men go inside and the "psychic" in the front sends them back for what they REALLY came for, where there are other women waiting. Do you really think they can afford several thousands of dollars in commercial Manhattan rent by reading palms? They set up those bogus psychic/spa shops so they can operate "legally." Anyway, I hope I'm not embarrassing you. That wasn't my intention at all! Just think of it as your silly new-to-NYC story! 🙂
Carly – I just saw this post. Did anything the psychic said come true?!?!?!
