LADY JACKET

I had to dedicate a full blog post to J. Crew’s lady jacket in boiled wool. It’s one of the best pieces I’ve gotten from the brand in a while, it’s that good. It’s a versatile, instant closet-staple that I can see myself reaching for again and again.

The best part is that it is currently 40% off with code FAMILY.

J. CREW LADY JACKET IN BOILED WOOL

There’s a lot to love about it, starting with the fit. The boiled wool gives it a bit of a stretch so it moves with you. I was expecting more of a blazer, which would have been fine, but with a bit of give and stretch, it is much more of an everyday item that I can wear really no matter what I’m up to for the day. (While still looking tailored and put together. A huge plus.)

The length is also *just right*– it has the appearance of being cropped without it being too cropped. I have a super long torso and it still just grazes the top of my jeans. It also hits at a great spot if you want to layer this over a dress. (Sometimes blazers can look too oversized over dresses and that is not the case with the lady jacket silhouette.)

I think it runs true to size– I went up one size for my postpartum body/chest.

I will probably wear it more casually (like here) with jeans and a simple white tee. But it could easily be worn to work with slacks and a button up or thrown over a dress for a night out.

I honestly loved it so much I got it in red as well for the holidays.
