Long Black Dress

Does this dress look familiar? It’s the same silhouette as the green and white striped dress I fell in love with this summer and the navy dress I recently wore with boots on here. What can I say, when I know something works, I really commit to it. I actually just wore the navy one for a video shoot in my house and the makeup artist and I were talking about people who buy the same thing in every color. I was, like, “guilty as charged!” And showed her the green and black versions I also had. I have an uncommon body shape with a larger bust, super long torso, and small waist. So when I find something that’s comfortable and legitimately flattering? I double down (or in this case I guess, triple down!). Plus this dress has pockets, which is a no-brainer right there alone.

Tuckernuck Catherine Dress

One thing that’s different about the black dress is that it’s more of a flow-y fabric (compared to the stripe or navy which feels more like an oxford cloth). It moves so nicely and freely; it’s ladylike and sophisticated.

I kept the belt it came with on, but I love that you can swap in any of your favorite belts too. Plus it ties at just the perfect spot on your waist.

Looks so good! I love the length of this one you. Also love how versatile the black is — could easily take you from office to nice dinner

The sweater blazer over this would be such a cute and cozy-chic way to style the dress! I also wonder if flats and a denim jacket would work?! In my brain it does, ha! Happy Thursday, Carly 🙂

I’m sorry but there is NOTHING uncommon about your body type. You fit into standard sizes no problem. You can go into any store and find clothing. I’m size 14, 40-30-44 with a size G/H cup, try going shopping at your preppy J Crew stores when you have a body like mine and tell me that your body is “uncommon.” You’re a skinny white girl, get over yourself.

I love this dress! After debating for a few days I went for it…..so classic and will be a wardrobe staple for years dressed up or down. Thank you!

Hi Carly! I know this is an older post, but I was wondering if you felt like all the dresses ran the same size wise despite the different fabrics?

Sizing was the same but the fabric definitely “falls” differently if that makes sense! But I wore XS in all dresses
