I’m scheduled to get a haircut next week. I am way overdue for one. Sheesh. While I know hair is just hair, I would be lying if I said I didn’t get a little anxious before getting a cut. Luckily, I’ve never had a bad experience… I just have issues with change 😉
Because I blow dry, straighten, and curl the life right on out of my hair, it’s in crazy bad shape. (Whoops.) I’ve had long and short hair throughout the years. Sometimes I think I should grow it way out and other times, I’m ready to chop it all off.
This photo, taken when I was graduating from high school, is as short as my hair as been since elementary school. Not sure if I can go that short again right before summer; I like French braiding my hair too much!
… and I kind of want bangs. But I just know that right before summer (aka humid season) is the worst time for a curly-q like me. Emma Stone just has the perfect bangs though! I think I’m going to use this picture as hair inspiration for my hairdresser and ask her what she thinks about the bang situation. (Maybe just longer bang “layers”?)
(Maybe I want her hair because she’s just so perfect in every single way?! Have you seen this video yet?!)
Do you prefer having long or short hair? Do you bring “inspiration” photos to your hairdresser?
I LOVE long hair! I think short hair looks cute if you can pull it off (which I totally can't), but I love the versatility of long hair.
I defintely bring in photos to show my hair dresser, I've heard many times that it helps them so much to visualize what you want when you do! I would keep your hair the length it is, my hair when I was younger was a short bob- with bangs (not a great look for me). It literally grows so slowly it kills me when people cut it all off, I say its gorgeous the way it is!

I have to say I love long hair, but do also love a change every now and then! I have always had long hair, but have donated it a couple times. I recently cut mine just for me (quarter life crisis) and although it is fun and everyone loved it, I really miss my long locks! I brought a few photos, but my stylist knows me so well, she really knew what to do as soon as I said cut it. I think people often associate long hair as making you look younger and less professional, but I think if you have the right cut (cough, Kate Middleton) it can be great. I'm growing mine back out!

I feel your pain with the curly hair! I always bring pictures to show my hair dresser, it never ends up looking the same though..

I've spanned the hair spectrum big-time. I had a stright-up bowl cut when I was a baby (hello, pictures that look like my twin brother) and when I was around 13 I had hair down to my waist (no idea how I managed it, I always wonder why no one told me I looked like Sailor Moon character). In college, it was always short (shoulder length or shorter) but since then I've let it grow because I feel like I won't want it long once I get past a certain age.
I definitely think inspiration pictures help, but something I think works well in addition to that is a picture of yourself where you especially liked your hair. I always do this when I'm asking them to give me bangs – I think it helps the stylist to see how you want your face to be framed and where on your face you want the hair to fall. Good luck! 🙂
Ooh, I know exactly what you mean about the french braiding thing…
And oh my goodness, that video!!! My favorite thing! Totally girl-crushing on Emma Stone!

Oh, but you should do a video before your cut! 😉
I have had all lengths as well and I can never decide if I prefer short hair or long. But the great thing about hair is that it will always grow back!

I just chopped 7 inches off a few weeks ago and love my new short do! I always bring an inspiration photo with me. It assures that my hair dresser and I are on the same page.

My hair is always damaged too because I straighten mine every day, but I definitely prefer long hair (mine just takes so long to grow now!). I just got bangs too… and I went for straight across bangs so it was super scary! I am really in love with them though, they were such a great change.
You should consider asking your hair dresser what they think will work best with your natural texture, especially with summer starting.
I was afraid to cut mine shorter, but i've been loving it since I got it cut! Also I totally just watched the rap battle and it was just TOO GOOD.
I have curly hair and I blow dry, straighten, and curl the life out of my hair too. I have longer bangs and I usually blow dry them back with the rest of my hair when I don't feel like wearing them; it's the best of both worlds as long as you have your bangs long enough.

I just cut my hair today! I brought in photos of Allie Evans, Emily Schuman, Elizabeth Olsen, and Ingrid Nilsen! I LOVE my shorter hair!
I've always had long-ish hair except for that one time I cut it short. It was a lot more work! I basically dry my hair to 80% dry and finish with a round blow brush. I think waves or curls are much more attractive overall than stick straight hair. I have taken pictures to my hairstylist in the past but I got to the point where I said "Do whatever you think would suit me best."
I've had bangs for as long as I can remember! Mine are full-on bangs, but I'd suggest trying something less drastic first. I think you'd look great with them! Only thing is, with my crazy curly hair, I can't leave the house without blowdrying my bangs!
I'm the same way about haircuts! They've always turned out fine, but I get so anxious before I go.
Oh I absolutely bring along photos to my stylist (who I've been seeing FOREVER)! A few years ago I had a pixie cut and brought photos of Emma Watson as inspiration.
I have collarbone length now and my inspiration photos usually include Mariska Hargitay (when I wanted to grow out my bangs) and Eliza Coupe, during her Happy Endings days.
I think you'd be adorable with bangs but I totally understand the curly before summer deal. I have wavy hair, but still. And I love your grey streaks =)
I had a major hair cut in December (chest length–>pixie) and it has been a really interesting transition. I've learned a lot and of course I miss my long hair but it's fun getting creative and just seeing myself with such a different look. I showed my stylist my pinterest board for hair and we figured out something that would look best on me http://www.pinterest.com/jessicamorganr/hair-love/
I always want long hair until it actually starts growing out, then I'm quick to chop it all off. Short and flippy is where I think I'll probably stay.
Went from down my back—>shoulder length recently. Huge change, but with summer coming on, I felt like I needed it. Change is good, but it can freak me out. Glad I went, cut looks okay, but I'm going to start bringing pictures to my hairdresser's. Also, LOVING the Emma Stone photo you're using as inspiration!
Wow, you don't change (or age), you still look as young as you did in high school!
I always regret getting bangs, so I'd hold off on them!
I have had my hair every different style you can imagine so speak from experience. I always love my bangs the first week I have them because they are freshly cut and look so nice but then I hate them and regret them after that. So I suggest not to get bangs. Short hair is awesome for summer and I love how you look with it in the top picture!!

I love your short hair in that picture!! And yeah I could see you doing long side bangs but just know that growing out bangs is a looooong tiresome process haha (I'm like 1/3 of the way done with growing out my fringe)
I just cut about 6 inches off of my hair for summer yesterday, and I'm soo happy with it! I used Ingrid Nilsen and Jenn Im from youtube for inspiration for my hair dresser. 🙂
I just chopped 8 inches off my hair and have super curly hair like you and mine is outrageously thick – I've actually found it easier to maintain and think it looks much more chic. Oh – and I got those "bang layers' on accident – WORST idea ever if you like to throw your hair in a low pony – they do not cooperate.
I perfer long hair with layers, even though my short/medium hair is just fine.
I donated my hair a few months ago, I don't regret it, but I'm ready for my hair to start growing faster!!
Also, I was watching Emma Stone on Fallon and literally thought, she makes bangs seem like a good idea. However, my hair's thick & wavy so I'm not going to go there!
