The other day, I shared an Instagram story wearing this cashmere sweater and got a few requests to share more about it. I LOVE cashmere sweaters, especially for this transitional season from summer to fall. Not only are they incredibly soft and luxurious, but they also elevate any outfit!
Since cashmere sweaters have been a staple in my closet for so long, I’ve accumulated a small collection over the years, ha! What I love most about this specific cashmere sweater is the fit. It’s not too slim or too boxy—it’s just right. It’s also the perfect thickness to wear by itself during early fall weather, so more often than not, I wear it with jeans. It’s a simple yet chic combination that you can wear on multiple occasions. I’ll style my outfit with white sneakers for a super casual look, ballet flats when I want to look cute but comfortable, and heels to dress it up a little for a date night.
When the weather gets colder, these cashmere sweaters are perfect for layering. I wear them under vests, jackets, and cardigans well into spring. I like that this style is available in lots of colors, so there’s something for everyone. If you don’t own any cashmere sweaters yet, I recommend starting with either black, grey, or camel since they’re a classic option that will give you a lot of variety when styling outfits.
MY FAVORITE CASHMERE SWEATER 3 WAYS
BUSINESS CASUAL WITH A BLAZER
Camel Cashmere Sweater + Plaid Blazer + Jeans + Flats + Tote
This is a super easy way to take your cozy cashmere sweater and slightly elevate it with a blazer and flats.
SLIGHTLY DRESSY WITH A SKIRT
Black Cashmere Sweater + Wool Skirt + Bow Earrings + Tote + Boots
I’m all about wearing all black with tan accessories! Dress up a cashmere sweater with a wool skirt and tall boots.
COMFY WITH A VEST
Grey Cashmere Sweater + Vest + Jeans + Tote + White Sneakers
And my personal favorite? Pairing a cashmere sweater with jeans and a vest for a fall weekend out and about.
So many great combinations! I love it with a skirt!!

I love how you styled these! I really need to spring for that bag soon, you are showing it’s versatility through the seasons.
Love this post!
Question (really my eternal question and struggle with sweaters)- what do you wear underneath? I know it’s cashmere so I’d be fine w just a bra, but then I feel like how often do I have to clean it?? Halp!
I wear just a bra and hand wash as/when needed!
Carly, would you be willing to do a blog post about how you care for your cashmere and other nice pieces? I love cashmere but hate the dry cleaning (and price of dry cleaning!) so I often save wearing it for more special occasions. Knowing that/how some nicer pieces can be hand washed might make it more accessible.
You should be able to wear more than once. Turn inside out after wearing to help air it out, and I sometimes use a mix of half water, half vodka and spray the armpit area.
@Jess — Really? I am SO going to try that idea. Love my sweaters, hate drycleaning.
You can also use one of the nicer-smelling higher-end hand sanitizers to spray the armpits. I use the Dr. Bronner’s lavender one and it works well!
Your hair is looking amazing! Which dryer did you end up using?
Any recommendations on how to store your cashmere? After losing several sweaters to moths over the years, I’ve started storing my collection in gallon ziplock bags but I hate having a drawer full of cashmere in ziplocks! Also highly recommend the J. Crew cashmere, I have at least ten of them and the fit is amazing.
