Nantucket Snapshots

My camera roll is brimming with photos I’ve snapped from my trips to Nantucket. I have a bunch of outfit posts and a travel guide coming up, but for now… iPhone photos! As much as I love being back in my routine (and trust me, I really love it), I am missing my happy place. I think next year I may have to go for a full month.

Get ready for PHOTO OVERLOAD.

Nantucket Mural

Trip #1 with some of my favorite girls (Gray, Chassity, and Julia) on the planet! So. Much. Fun. I think we all agreed that the time together was too short. (And they’re all doing a hard sell on me moving to Charleston, haha.)

I’m wearing: Tiered Maxi Dress // Slides (c/o) // Sunglasses // Wicker Bag (c/o) // Similar Bracelet

Sconset Rental

Julia found the rental house, and it was perfect for the six of us with a big kitchen, a great back patio + front porch, and (most importantly) the best living room for our nightly games.

Endeavor Sailing Nantucket

Since it was everyone else’s first trip to Nantucket, I booked a charter sail around the sound with Endeavour Sailing. Such a fun way to see the island.

Nantucket Meals

As fun as going out to restaurants can be, there’s something special about cooking at home!

Flower Boxes

The Nantucket flower box game is quite strong.

Mitchell Street Cottage

Off to a Fourth of July dinner!

I’m wearing: Dress (c/o) // Espadrilles // Straw Bag (c/o)

Nantucket Seal

The seals at the beach are cute and fun to watch. I swear, they stare right back at you just as curious as we are. But a word of caution, where there are seals, there’s the potential for sharks.

Sconset

The cutest shed on the island I think.

Yellow Vintage Bug

My dad used to have a yellow convertible bug! (My aunt currently has it by way of my grandparents.) I loved seeing this one in town.

Sconset Flowers

Watching the fog roll in never gets old.

New Bedford Ferry

After a quick time back in Connecticut, I did some laundry, repacked my bags, and gathered the dogs. I have more to say about the journey, but (spoiler alert) they were amazing!

Brant Point Light

Hi, Brant Point!

Handlebar Cafe

A morning walk into town to get coffee from Handlebar Cafe. (Side note, but I have never received so many DMs about an article of clothing. My hoodie is from J. Crew Factory last year. I randomly met a reader who works there at lunch later in the day… she promised to put in a good word with her friends to try to bring it back.)

Nantucket Harbor

Just a few moments after the sun set.

Nantucket Pups

Did I mention how much the dogs loved Nantucket? I was worried about bringing them, but I’m so glad that I did.

Nantucket Rental

Our rental had the nicest front yard and side patio for grilling.   New England Towel

The key to getting a good spot on the beach is to go when it’s still foggy. People came out in droves the minute the sun came out! (Towel is from Spartina; I bought mine in Murray’s.)

Sconset Nantucket

I could have spent the whole trip walking around ‘Sconset and pretend house hunting.

I’m wearing: Seersucker Dress (c/o) // Jack Rogers // Straw Bag (c/o) // Sunglasses

Tiger Lily Nantucket Cottage

Isn’t that the cutest cottage ever?!

Tommy Hilfiger House Nantucket

And lastly… peeping on Tommy Hilfiger’s old house. I’m obsessed. (Hat is Peter Beaton)

Carly, forget Charleston! You just said Nantucket was your happy place! Move there!!! I could totally see you living on the island, you have the amazing advantage of working wherever you’d like, and you just mentioned that the dogs loved it. I see an almost perfect opportunity! Charleston is lovely too though 🙂 but always go where you feel most alive.

Gorgeous photos! I’ve always wanted to go to Nantucket.

You should totally move to Charleston! It’s such a unique and incredible place. I live about 2 hours from it and visit often.

I have several friends who visit Cape Cod every year and its on my bucket list! I just found a book titled “And This is Cape Cod – A Complete Guide to the Cape” by Eleanor Early. I found it at one of our estate sales (I work for an estate sale company on the North Shore, near Chicago). Its from the homeowner’s summer vacation in 1940. Can’t wait to read it 🙂

The first line in the book reads… If you love the sea-and things that are old- if you love nice little houses and all kinds of flowers, then you should go to Cape Cod.

Who wouldn’t want to visit with a line like that!

Glad you had a nice trip!

All of your pictures are beautiful! I have a dog about the same size and age as Teddy and would love to bring him with me to one of the islands(:

This looks so cute! I live in TX and have only been to NYC on the east coast. I would love to see Nantucket and Connecticut and Boston. Listening to Vampire Weekend when I was in high school always made me want to move to the east coast, haha.

Looks like you had a great time! Nantucket is slowly moving to the top of my travel wishlist– I can’t get over how the island seems to be just dripping in flowers.

Nantucket seriously looks like the most adorable place on the planet. Whenever I get back to the East Coast, I’m going to stay for an extended time and just visit all the cute places!
