On My Radar

What a week! I got back from Jackson Hole on Monday and hit the ground running getting back on track. I forgot to include this matching photo with my mom. She went to Jackson Hole in 1972 with the Girl Scouts. My parents and my aunt and uncle traveled to Jackson Hole last fall and she recreated the photo again. I had to do the same!

Jackson Hole

Here’s what was on my radar this week:

ONE // The Man Behind a Third of What’s on Wikipedia

I thought this was such a great story about a man who has written or edited a third of what’s on Wikipedia. If you haven’t had the chance to hear the How I Built This podcast about Jimmy Wales, definitely give it a listen too. It made me appreciate Wikipedia so much more and I loved watching the story about Steven Pruitt and his absolutely incredible contributions!!

TWO // Buffalo Check Tie Sleeve Sweater

How cute is this buffalo sweater? I love the navy and the bows at the sleeve. Also loving this anorak with a gingham hoodthis silk scarf sweater, and these Belgian loafers.

THREE // Baby-Sitter’s Club Reboot

I LOVE THE BABY-SITTER’S CLUB. Love it. I had every single one of the books, including the Little Sister books, and we had every VHS of the tv show. I loved the 1995 movie as well. I’m pretty sure I was signed up for a Scholastic book fair club where they’d send a monthly “subscription” of Baby-Sitter’s Club memorabilia.  (OH MY GOD, I just googled it and they still sell the tin that I received with the first subscription!!! I think I still have it somewhere…) Anyway……. Netflix is doing a reboot of the series and I am here for it.

FOUR // Jonas Brothers “Year 2019” with James Cordon

To be honest, I wasn’t into the Jonas Brothers when they were first popular. (I think I was too old for it so I missed that boat.) But I gotta say, I’m loving their return. And I’m especially loving their media blitz. Their appearance with James Cordon was spot on.

FIVE // Meditation Streaks

Andy (from Headspace, the meditation app that I use religiously) wrote a great post about the app’s “streak” feature. If you’re unfamiliar, it basically shows you how many days you’ve meditated in a row. I’m well over 700 days at this point and I find that it really helps me stick to the daily practice. But I can understand why it might stress someone else out. His post was amazing and exactly what I think we should all be thinking about across the board in life. Basically: if it works for you, great. If it doesn’t, no worries. AMEN.

Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's

I don’t use Headspace, but I’ve had experience with streaks on things like Snapchat and Duolingo! In December I actually wrote a blog post about building habits with kindness rather than rigor if you’re curious to check it out HERE. The gist of it is that I am no longer viewing a break in a habit as a failure, and I’m keeping in mind that all that matters from there is that I get back into the habit. There’s no use in beating ourselves up about it! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

I love these Friday posts, and especially the photos of you and your mom.

Quick flag: I think Errol is the reporter, Steven Pruitt (idk how it’s spelled) is the editor.

Thank you so much for posting the Headspace article! I am currently on day 38 and while I mostly find it motivating there have been times where the thought of missing a day causes me anxiety. I have been meditating on and off for a while and always found it so discouraging when my streak went to zero, almost as if the hours of meditation I had completed didn’t “count”. What a great reminder that it isn’t about the number!

Brianna Rooney

I’m surprised you don’t have any articles for International Women’s Day. It’s a great campaign this year (and every year) and reminds us to celebrate each other!

I thought of you when I saw that buffalo check sweater in the Talbots catalog, haha!

A Girl, A Style

Oh my goodness, I LOVE these photos of you and your mum years apart! And I am SO excited about the Babysitter’s Club (just praying they don’t ruin it like they did the Gilmore Girls re-boot).

Sooooo with you on the Jonas Bros thing!! I didn’t realize Joe Jonas was the singer for DNCE (or how insanely talented they all are). Totally into them now.
