I feel a little bit like I’m in a time warp right now. I felt like we had a LOT of time before Thanksgiving and it weirdly crept up on us?! And December starts next weekend?! Despite that, I have felt the least crazy about the holiday season from a work perspective. I’m not traveling and I’ve been making sure to stay sane with workouts, quick vent seshes with friends, and needlepointing or embroidering before bed.
PS My J. Crew $150 gift card giveaway ends tonight! Be sure to enter if you haven’t already!
Here’s what was on my radar this week:
ONE // Family Heirloom Ornaments
You guys know that I have been all about a good DIY lately. How CUTE are these family heirloom photo ornaments? They look pretty straightforward and would be such a fun addition to a tree. This could be a fun project to do with family members too when everyone has been cooped up for too long.
TWO // Chanel Miller’s Poem at Glamour’s Woman of the Year Awards
I finished reading Chanel Miller’s memoir Know My Name earlier this month. I’ll talk more about it in my end of the month reading recap, but spoiler alert: it is, hands down, the best book I’ve read all year. Chanel Miller is a force. The poem she wrote and recited at Glamour’s Woman of the Year Awards is poignant and powerful. An absolute must-listen.
THREE // Conversations with Creatives
I recorded a podcast A Podcast for Creatives. I kind of went into it blind, but thought it was an interesting conversation. I actually forgot I was recording a podcast at times because it felt like the three of us were just having a personal conversation. Since I’m in the social media industry both as a consumer and a creator, I have so many thoughts on the direction of where it’s heading and what I wish was different.
FOUR // Handknit Ornaments
After I put together a post about ornaments last week, a reader sent me her mom’s Etsy shop. I am BLOWN AWAY by how cute everything is. She handknits everything and, wow, pure talent! For obvious reasons, I think the little doodle sweater & stocking ornaments are the cutest ones. These would make a great gift for someone and you could even tie it with a bow on another wrapped gift as an extra surprise.
FIVE // Disney+
Has anyone else signed up for Disney+? Not going to lie, I had zero interest in ANOTHER subscription. I barely have enough time (er, patience) to figure out what to watch on Netflix. But I signed up for a free year through my Verizon phone plan because I ~could~. It’s FILLED with content. I don’t know what I was expecting but there is an insane amount of content for everyone… kids, families, teens, adults. There’s original content, classic movies, the shows my sister and I were obsessed with as kids, documentaries for days. All the Pixar, all the Marvel. I watched the High School Musical series this past weekend and it’s so good.
I can’t wait for D+ to launch in The UK, it sounds so good! Love your Friday recaps Carly!
Happy Friday!

I love the heirloom ornaments and the hand-knit ornaments! I don’t have enough skill to make the heirloom ones though and I’m a teacher so I probably can’t afford a $26 hand-made ornament lol. Still love them though!
I think you could totally do the heirloom! You could hand sew them or you could honestly even glue. I bet you could!
Where are your pants from in the picture above?! I’ve been looking for something like that for our Christmas Party! I assume J.Crew but I didn’t see them when I looked last. Thank you!
We did the free trial for Disney+, but like you, I’m not trying to add another monthly subscription to our budget! Now, if they had old Mickey Mouse Club episodes on there… I mean, what 12-year old girl didn’t swoon over this?! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEgGWHtVIhQ
Love seeing those adorable ornaments. I like how into handmade items you are. Me too!
The hand knit ornaments are the true takeaway for me!
I love this type of post! So cool. I am definitely interested in disney+.

You are so great on podcasts, I really enjoy hearing your perspectives on life (like on the book podcast, you gave great advice based on your personal experience) and the industry! I hope you continue to do more, or even start your own!
