On My Radar

After a very relaxing break, it’s been nice to get back into the swing of things. The best part is that the blogging world (agencies, managers, etc.) basically shuts down too so I came back to a fairly manageable inbox. I’m going to be tackling my bookkeeping/taxes for 2019 today; usually, I dread this task, but I’m looking forward to being done with it!!

Couldn’t resist starting this champagne canvas in time for NYE!

Here’s what was on my radar this week:

ONE // First Look at the New Lizzie McGuire

Ahhhh! I cannot wait for the new Lizzie McGuire series. It was one of my favorite shows back in the day and I’m really curious to see how they’ll depict her life as an adult. I did watch the show Younger and liked to pretend that Hilary’s character Kelsey was Lizzie, ha ha! Disney+ just released a very short teaser of movies/series coming to the platform this year, including a very brief cameo of Lizzie McGuire. Need more!!!!

TWO // Chick-Fil-A Copycat

We stayed in for New Years and made Chick-Fil-A copycat chicken sandwiches for dinner. It was amazing. I ate way, way more than I should have and went to bed feeling downright stuffed. Worth it though. The sauce was also excellent. Someone asked me if the sauce tasted the same and I’ve actually never had the real CFA sauce before, so I have no idea… but it was delicious nonetheless.

THREE // Lodge Coat

I’m re-sharing this coat because it’s been my very favorite this winter. It had been pretty low in stock over the holidays due to the various sales, but I’m happy to report that more inventory is available. I think this is the best wool coat I’ve ever purchased because it’s genuinely warm. Not sleeping-bag-parka-level, but it really gets the job done because the inner body is quilted and the sleeves and collar have cuffs to keep the cold out.

FOUR // How to Stop Being Lazy

Anyone else looking to be more productive and less lazy this year? I’ve gotten better about my productivity over the years, but I’m always looking for new strategies. This is one of my favorite blogs to read and I was going through the archives for some helpful tips for the new year. This post is great because it’s really about being productive at work without losing out on life. I definitely spent the better half of my twenties burning the candle at both ends and feeling lousy because of it. I’m really focused on introducing healthier work habits into my life and already feel like I’m more productive AND happier at the end of the day.

FIVE // 60 Lunch Ideas

I shared yesterday that one of my goals for 2020 was to make lunch at home. I pinned this post to reference later and figured I’d share it here in case other people also have the same goal. (Slash, who doesn’t need some inspo for healthy lunches?!)

Thank you for providing the How to Stop Being Lazy article! Just what I needed!

I would love to see posts about your adventures making healthy lunches. This is something I need to work on as well.

I definitely want to hear more about the healthy lunches. I struggle to pack a healthy lunch and end up buying lunch instead.

Oh man, I was so excited to read that productivity article but cringed when I saw that it was based on advice from Cal Newport. He’s good in small doses like that, but I have to warn you against the temptation to add his books to your reading list – I picked up Digital Minimalism a few months ago and HATED it. Couldn’t even tell how it got past an editor. It would probably have been 25% shorter if you took out all the “As I will argue…” “As I explained earlier…” “As I will prove…” etc. And he’s very susceptible to losing the plot – he spent WAY too much time talking about Ralph Waldo Emerson and Abraham Lincoln in a book about *using your cell phone less*. It was frustrating because there was genuinely good advice in the book, but it was so hard to get past how poorly it was written.

Sorry to rant, haha – just wanted to save you the annoyance of being as disappointed as I was!

Really enjoyed the Productivity article! Have you seen that the same gentleman who wrote The Power of Habit also wrote a book on productivity? I haven’t read it, but since I enjoyed TPoH so much I thought about giving it a try! Also very much digging the 60 lunch ideas as that is always my hardest and least favorite meal to deal with. Thanks for sharing!

You gave me the inspiration to make the Chick-Fil-A sandwiches ( we just got our first one in Canada and our getting a second later this month!!) and it was delicious! I think my oil might have been too hot because they got brown very quick- once I turned it down they cooked fine.

Thanks Carly!!
