On My Radar

This past week was definitely the hardest I’ve had since the start of COVID restrictions in March. It was a culmination of a lot of things and I really can’t shake the feeling of uneasiness. I did my best to get my to-do list done as much as possible so I can fully step away from my laptop AND phone this weekend. Hoping an unplugged few days does the trick 🤞🏻

Towel + Dress

Here’s what has been on my radar this week:

ONE // The Claudia Kishi Club

If you have found yourself deep diving on all things Baby Sitters Club, like I have, after watching the recent revival on Netflix, I have something else for you. A documentary coming out on Netflix all about Claudia Kishi– and how her character helped inspire a generation of Asian-American creatives.

TWO // Mask Savers

A reader just started selling beaded mask savers and mask saver kits! She shared her Etsy storefront with me and I thought it was such a fun idea! You can pick what colors you want the beads to be and add customization too. Kind of like a modern friendship bracelet 😉

THREE // Group Chat Realness Podcast

My friend Venita launched a podcast!!! She and Sophie Gold are sharing weekly episodes bringing those “group chat” conversations into real conversations. I think it’s genius and I’ve already loved listening to the first two episodes. Highly recommend giving them a listen!

FOUR // Bakery Style Blueberry Muffins

I LOVE muffins but only enjoy them as a special treat. (They’re kind of like eating a slice of cake for breakfast!) But if I’m ever in a bakery where they have freshly baked blueberry muffins I always let myself indulge. This recipe could be dangerous to try at home… the bakery style muffins look divine.

FIVE // Liberty Floral Masks with Ruffles

Now that masks are a part of our lives, I am all about having cute ones. Might as well accessorize and coordinate! J. Crew just released another batch of Liberty masks with the cutest ruffles along the edge. So. Cute. Here’s a stripe + floral version, too. (And they also have some adorable kid versions as well!)

You have a major typo in the third sentence of your first paragraph. Editing is a wonderful concept!

And there’s a kind way to leave feedback on a small human error. What a wonderful concept!

Wow, that was mean when she already said she wasn’t feeling great. Just saying.

Kelsey,
You are being unkind, and unnecessary. I urge you to take a close look at yourself and why you would find the need to purposely be rude.

Carly – this dumb, petty comment just highlights even more the bright light you are in this world. Thank you for sharing the podcast info, muffin recipe, the mask link and for being so open about the anxiety most people are feeling right now. Negative, mean people are never fun, but never more so than right now. Thankfully, despite that uncalled for comment, there are a lot more people who are kind and positive. Yay!

Yes, I think Carly meant “uneasiness.” I think it’s the second mistake I have found in about 5 years of reading her blog..let’s ease up on the tone and try being supportive

I’m so sorry you weren’t feeling quite as good. Have you tried Tapping? It’s also known as the Emotional Freedom Technique. I’ve been tapping daily with Brad Yates (on youtube and free) and have found it life changing. I REALLY think you’d like it! I love your posts and honesty. xoxo

Social Media can wreak havoc on anyone, and if a person already has anxiety issues, it can feel so much more overwhelming. My suggestion, if you feel you can manage it (financially) and/or even want to – next ‘slow’ quarter, plan to take 1-4 weeks off. Completely off. I’m sure meditation helps, but if the anxiety is constant, then a detox is your best bet.

Something about this week seems to have been rough for so many people I know. You’ve hit the nail on the head with this post and your stories on your realizations. I hate that you’re going through a tough time, but I’m so appreciative for you sharing. And I’m totally with you on knocking out that to-do list and checking OUT this weekend. The last 3 days have been complete discipline/GSD mode to make this weekend as stress and work free as possible. Hope you have a relaxing and reenergizing weekend!

Mindfulness helps me a lot. Just living in the present moment and not getting worried about the future which makes us anxious.

Stuff happens I just read over it. Another note I want to know if you have ever heard of a Gravity Blanket? They are great if you have trouble sleeping, anxiety a number of things. My daughter bought one mainly to sleep better. She loves it! I purchased one and it is wonderful for my sleeping better. Check it out it might help with your anxiety. I just purchased another one for a family member. They are wonderful
