Hello from the Harbor again! After getting stuck in I95 traffic on Sunday for seven hours, I got back in my car Monday evening to drive upstate. My boyfriend’s family has a house in Henderson Harbor and, funny enough, my mom grew up here! He said something about it on our first date and I thought to myself, “Wait, that’s where my mom is from…. but there’s NO WAY it can be the same place.” But it is! I have photos of my grandpa as a kid and my mom as a little girl on the same lake. The sunsets up here might be the most beautiful in the world– I’ve never seen anything like it!
One funny thing happened this week work-wise though. I always put my phone on silent when I go to sleep and then when I wake up, the first thing I do after turning my alarm off is to turn the sound back on. I must have forgotten to do that on Wednesday. I went the whole day with it on silent (aka I got NO notifications) and I loved it. I didn’t miss anything because I’d check in with my phone every once in a while but I didn’t miss the constant flood of texts, Instagram notifications, and email dings. Might be my new play for workdays honestly. (I have email pulled up on my computer at all times and get iMessages on there too, so it’s not like I’m in the dark. I just know that when I get a notification, I tend to check ~all the things~ and 10 minutes can easily pass.)
Here’s what is on my radar this week:
ONE // Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants on BROADWAY
I love SOTP, both the books and movies, and I was so excited to hear the news that they’re making it into a musical. I cannot wait to hear more… it’s such a great story and I feel like it lends itself well to a stage production!
TWO // Gingham “Takeout Bag” Handbag
How cute is this little takeout handbag?? I’m not sure if I’d actually see myself carrying it, but I like to imagine that if I was a fancy NYC fashion girl, this would be my go-to.
THREE // Cup of Jo Parenting Series
Cup of Jo is my favorite blog and her parenting abroad series is the best. I look forward to it every year. Ugh, if this post doesn’t make you want to pack your bags and raise a family in the French countryside, I don’t know what will! I found it so fascinating that she realized her children are very much “French” and she feels a slight disconnect from them because she is not.
FOUR // Cambria Brockman
I know of Cambria through Instagram (she had a wedding business with my friend Lauren) and I just heard the news that she wrote a book! The book must be great because it went to auction (which means multiple publishers wanted it!) and she signed for not one, but two books. That’s huge. As I was googling to find out more information about the book, which is about a murder at a New England elite college, I read that they also already sold the rights to turn it into a Netflix series. First, a big congratulations to Cambria. And second, I CAN’T WAIT!
FIVE // 73 Questions with Saoirse Ronan
I’m a big fan of Saoirse Ronan and Vogue’s 73 Questions series on Youtube. Such a fun way to get to know celebrities more. Saoirse seems like such a fun, down to earth girl… and I, of course, can’t get enough of her brogue.
Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants on Broadway? That sounds amazing! I love the books and the movies, seeing it in theatre would complete the whole set! Wow! 🙂

I looked up flights to Provence after raeding Cup of Jo this week!
That book sounds so good! I used to love reading books about rich prep school kids, it’s such a fascinating world. The book sounds like a darker and a bit more serious version of Gossip Girl, which I will always love lol

I most likely will have to parent my future kids overseas so that parenting abroad series is so intriguing!

My phone gets the “silent mode” automatically when I go to sleep, I just activated it to avoid waking up in every notification and then, in the morning the sound is turn on automatically as well. Amazing list, I really enjoy those Vogue’s 73 Questions too.. I loved that one with Gisele Bündchen! ❤

Quick question about keeping your phone on silent. I’ve always kept mine on silent so the various dings and noises don’t bother me. Unfortunately, about two weeks ago, we had a family emergency at 3am and my phone being on silent kept me from finding out until the next morning. Now I’m nervous about the phone being on silent because I don’t ever want to miss that kind of call. So, how do you silence yours? With the flip button on the side or do you use the Do Not Disturb option? I’ve tried turning all notification sounds off except my ringer, but unfortunately, some sounds can’t be turned off, most notably the camera shutter. The DND function would allow calls, but I wasn’t sure if it would still receive silent text notification.
Hmmm… good question. I have it so that if someone on my “favorites” list calls, it comes through so I won’t miss an emergency!
I’ve known Joanna from Cup of Jo since elementary school and have always loved her blog, but the Motherhood Around The World series is my absolute fav! Love that you read it too 🙂
Happy Friday, Carly!! 🙂
I love the gingham handbag!

Did you ever read the last sisterhood book, Sisterhood Everlasting? It’s set when the girls are in their late twenties, and SO SO GOOD!
