Our family room is hands down our most used room in the house. We spend SO much time in here. It’s connected to our kitchen, which is also where you can find Mike and me a lot during the day, and our television is also in here so that’s a big draw for us 😉
Not only is it our most used room, it’s also the room that is the most finished. It takes a long time to furnish a house. (Well I’m sure it’s possible to do it all in one fell swoop, but it’d be really expensive all at once. I feel a lot more comfortable spreading out the finances and taking our time figuring out how we use a space.
My inbox has been flooded about questions about where things are from and I’m sure everything is linked or discussed somewhere on my blog, but I figure it’s best to just put together one post with everything under one roof, so to speak. So here we go!
I’ve had these pillows since my Connecticut apartment too. I LOVE them so much together.
FLORAL PILLOW // NAVY GREEK KEY
Having a white couch with two dogs seems insane, but hear me out. This couch has been with me since I moved to Connecticut in 2015. I love it. The whole thing is slipcovered so it can be completely washed– yes, the whole thing… not just the cushion covers. It’s held up through countless runs through the washer and dryer and has held up amazingly. (I did have a zipper pull pop off, but it was an easy fix that took me all of three minutes.)
This is a PET/KID/GUY friendly couch. (IYKYK.) I have done a whole post on how I keep it white, but the short story is: lots of Oxyclean.
COUCH DETAILS: Grand Sofa, Box-Edge, Twill Cream
Note: I’ve had this couch since 2015 and learned the hard way that colors can differ slightly year to year, so definitely worth ordering a swatch to be sure you get the color you want.
I had been on the hunt for swivel chairs for our family room for a bit. I really dislike the look of grommets and many swivel chairs on the market have grommets. And then I kept running into problems trying to find the right size. It was a total Goldilocks moment. Some were too small, a lot were too big. These swivel chairs from Serena and Lily were definitely a splurge, but totally worth it because they complete the space. Not that we’re having people over at the moment, but I assume we’ll be able to at some point (hopefully?!). And when we do, the chairs are great for chatting with friends on the couch, or swiveling for watching television together. They’re also super comfortable. Great for watching movies or curling up with a book.
SWIVEL CHAIR DETAILS: Perennials Basketweave – Navy
STRIPED PILLOW // FLORAL EMBROIDERED PILLOW
I LOVE this fireplace. It has a wood burning stove that’s technically in working order, but we’ve never used it. Looks beautiful though… I was tempted to paint the bricks white when we first moved in and I’m glad I resisted.

Hey Carly, I love your fireplace and am kind of jealous of it! 🙂 Random question, where do you light the matches you have in the glass container? I love the look of it.
I bought these from a local gift shop, they’re great and long! We have some in the living room where we light the main fireplace and then I keep these here to light our firepit outside (the door to the patio is right to the right)
I love your living room! The color scheme is so beautiful, and I am obsessed with your fireplace!

My parents just bought a new house and I have designated myself the designer ahha. I think my mom would love the look and vibe of this, so thanks for the inspo (and all the links 🙂 ) carly! hope you have a cozy day!
Your coffee table is beautiful! I also really love how you chose your pillow cases. The colour scheme of the whole room is lovely, really 🙂
Take care Carly! x

Last Post: My 2020 Autumn Bucket List
Hi Carly! How did you get that piece of artwork hung on your bricks? We have brick in our apartment, but even command hooks seem to fall off after less than 24 hours. Any suggestions!?
Drilled a hole for a nail in the cement!
Hi Courtney! They also make something called “Brick Hooks or Clips” that sit in the grout. You can get them on Amazon or Home Depot. Now depending on how your brick/grout is set, they may not hold. You’ll just have to try it. Good luck!
So homey! I especially like the brick detail 🙂
Love the look! I’m confused. If this is your family room where is your living room — or do you have one? Also, where did you get all your fabulous chinoiserie pieces?
This is the family room, connected to the kitchen. And then we have a living room (with the real fireplace) and that opens up into the dining room (which has all the blue and white!)
She also has a little home tour on her instagram highlights that is helpful to see how things are oriented! I love Carly’s whole house 😂💕
I love those pillows! I may have to add those to cart for our bedroom!
Would love to know if your couch has the memory foam or the down blend seating? Definitely on that puppy and dude-friendly track and want something that will last a while! Thank you!
Experiencing room love! Your couch is so pretty and comfy looking. Do you know the dimensions of floral/greek key pillows on it?
Any chance you remember the brand and name of the paint in this room for the walls, trim and door?
Sorry! The paint was already done when we moved in!
