Painting an Accent Wall

This is the third apartment that I’ve lived in since graduating college, yet I have never thought to paint a wall. All allowed paint, but I found the task too daunting. Standard issue apartment white was good enough, I thought. For this partnership with HGTV HOME™ by Sherwin-Williams though, I couldn’t wait to revamp my office! I was nervous, but I got a sneak peek of their 2019 Color Collections of the Year last fall and fell in love with a few shades of paint. I decided to jump right in… so I painted my first ever wall!

HGTV Color Collection

I used HGTV Home™ by Sherwin-Williams’ INFINITY® Paint & Primer, which meant my wall only needed one coat of paint! Had I known how easy and how amazing it would look, I would have done this the second I moved in!!

Accent Wall OfficeConsidering I’m a total newbie when it comes to painting projects in the house, it was great to work with HGTV HOME™ by Sherwin-Williams. They take the guesswork out of everything, starting with what color to choose. The three 2019 Color Collections of the Year embody different personalities and styles. Each Color Collection includes eight designer-curated colors that work together in any combination, making it easy to create a cohesive look throughout your home. Even if you are only using one color paint, you can use the Color Collection as inspiration for how to decorate the rest of the space. For example, the navy in my office is similar to the Dark Night within the Color Collection

I was instantly drawn to the “Everyday Balance” Color Collection and knew that the calming colors would be a great addition to my office space. I spend most of my time there at my desk working or on my couch relaxing with a television show. At first, I thought I would go for Dark Night– a rich navy that almost matches my blog’s logo perfectly. But since I already have so much navy going on in my office– like my couch, artwork, and the clothes on my garment rack– I chose to go with Quaint Peche. Because Dark Night was in the Everyday Balance Color Collection, I knew the pink would complement my navy accents throughout my office.

(It’s also a total coincidence that I have the “Sweet as a Peach” pennant on my bulletin board– I was born in Georgia! Peche is peach in French!)

Office ColorsI’m also having a major pink moment right now. All of a sudden, I’ve found myself gravitating towards pinks. I love how my new accent wall brings in a subtle, yet not insignificant, splash of the hue. The wall itself is directly to the left of my desk and has served as the home for my inspiration board. The pink has been catching my eye while I work and every time I look over, I keep thinking, “Why did I wait so long to paint it?!”

It instantly transformed the space!!! I was also so proud of myself for painting the wall. It is very satisfying work and I won’t be so intimidated the next time I decide to paint something.

I’m also quite daunted by painting walls. Yours turned out so great, and I really love that it’s an accent wall and not all the walls. Your pin board’s frame looks so lovely against the accent wall. I’ve also heard people talk about using stick-on wallpaper, but I haven’t delved into that either -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

I don’t think pink will ever EVER go out of style. It’s honestly the color of the century if I have any say in the decision!

The apartment wall looks great! My husband and I have painted many a rental apartment in the past from subtle blues and grays to bright orange accent walls and even a teal living room (I had to get it out of my system just once before falling back into my natural color zone). Enjoy your new space!

Love it! The Quaint Peche looks so pretty and seems very calming. I never painted walls in any of my apartments, so kudos to you for taking the leap!
